World Cup 2018 Football Predictions Group E – Serbia

The Serbian national team has become somewhat overlooked in recent years after they failed to book a place at the 2014 World Cup, and subsequently fell short of qualifying for Euro 2016 just two summers ago.

Now however, on the back of registering one truly profitable qualifying campaign in the run up to this summer’s hotly anticipated international showdown, Serbia seemingly arrive at the 2018 World Cup with some renewed fortunes fastened under their wing.

Will Serbia qualify from World Cup Group E?

Serbia’s chances of advancing from Group E can now be seen in both an exciting and realistic light. They lost but one single fixture whilst qualifying for the 2018 World Cup, with some much improved work ethic noticed among their first-team ranks.

Although Serbia have suffered with mounting disciplinary issues at previous tournaments and competitions, their fans are nonetheless expecting to see their team progress towards those all-important knock-out rounds with some enhanced form on their side.

Who will be Serbia’s star man at the World Cup?

This team play host to several widely recognised assets in the run up to this summer’s upcoming competition. Aleksandar Kolorov, Nemanja Matic and Dusan Tadic are just some of the more established Serbian stars we have seen operating among the Premier League in recent years.

Yet perhaps it will be Aleksandar Mitrovic who ultimately rises above the rest of his Serbian contemporaries in Russia. The hot-headed striker, currently on-loan at Fulham among the second tier of English football, is notorious for his aggressive demeanour and physical approach.

The 23-year-old didn’t exactly hit the ground running whilst plying his trade at St. James’ Park, but the same can’t be said for his most recent form on the international scene with Serbia. Mitrovic has proven something of a goal-scoring machine throughout qualification for the 2018 World Cup, with many expecting the young frontman to continue banging in the goals this summer.

Mitrovic will nonetheless have to make sure he remains on the pitch for the entirety of Serbia’s Group E fixtures. Failure to keep a cool head could severely cost the former Anderlecht man in what could prove the most telling spell of his entire striking career.

What are Serbia’s Group E fixtures?

Costa Rica – Serbia’s opening Group E opposition could turn out to be a particularly troublesome bunch. Costa Rica have proven adept at frustrating their opponents at previous international tournaments. A hard-fought draw may seemingly represent the most likely result between these two outfits, according to recent World Cup betting tips.

Switzerland – The Serbian national team appear to be somewhat ageing in nature, but Switzerland are also experiencing a similar range of issues in the run up to the 2018 World Cup. Although Switzerland rarely disappoint when it comes to defensive stability and hard-nosed organisation, Serbia arguably play host to the more exciting side on paper.

Brazil – It seems unlikely that Serbia will manage to take anything away from Brazil this summer. These in-form South Americans represent some of the most well defined favourites to go on and win the entire competition, something Serbia could only dream of achieving among their wildest and most unlikely of dreams.

Serbia’s World Cup Tips and Predictions

Whilst Serbia possess enough all-round quality to get the job done in Group E this summer, perhaps they will ultimately fall apart at the seams once push invariably turns to shove. Confusion over Mladen Krstajic’s position as head-team coach will only hinder the Serbs as they approach the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Serbia are somewhat well-versed when it comes to plying their trade among similar playing conditions as the ones found in Russia, but will their lack of major international experience simply come to the forefront whether they like it or not? Most World Cup football predictions remain decisively undecided for now, even in light of Serbia’s promising qualification campaign.
