World Cup 2018 Predictions Group C – Peru
Few sides managed to book their place at the 2018 World Cup with as much endeavour as Peru. Arriving at the tournament in place of Juan Antonio Pizzi’s determined Chilean outfit, Peruvian fans remain understandably excited for all that lays ahead this summer.
Will Peru qualify from Group C?
That said, their overall chances of advancing from those all-important group-stages are arguably somewhat slim. Whilst Peru have displayed some truly impressive defensive capabilities throughout the previous calendar year, their ability to cut it at a major international tournament remains very much in doubt.
But even with this particular viewpoint in mind, Peru will likely present themselves as a rugged and hard-nosed outfit who know what it means to work for their teammates. If Ricardo Gareca can get his team playing like a bunch of soldiers driven to succeed, Peru could possibly turn a few heads whilst plying their trade in Russia.
Who will be Peru’s star man at the World Cup?
Highlighting Peru’s main man remains something of a difficult exercise. Both Paolo Guerrero and Jefferson Farfan have stolen Peruvian hearts and minds in the past of course, but now Ricardo Gareca will certainly be looking for something new to strive his team forward.
After conceding less than ten competitive goals throughout the entirety of 2017, Luis Advincula has come to forefront for his country on the back of some impressive defensive displays among the Peruvian back-line.
The 27-year-old full-back has barely featured all that much outside of his native South America. He nonetheless provides strength in the tackle and does not shy away from bombing up and down the flanks in order to assist his teammates in the attack.
Peru will need to remain a tight and resolute squad of players if they are to experience any major success in Russia this summer. In Luis Advincula, Gareca’s proud outfit have a reliable stalwart they can surely count upon.
What are Peru’s Group C fixtures?
Denmark – This is a game that could go either way, potentially arriving as the most hard-fought fixture across the opening Group C proceedings. Peru possess enough defensive stability to frustrate the Danes, but in Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen, Denmark play host to an undoubted match-winner who could possibly turn the tide.
France – Peru’s chances of seeing off the French remain relatively unlikely at best. Although the South Americans have proven their defensive worth throughout the previous qualification process, surely France will take advantage of their proposed superiority and come home with all the spoils.
Australia – Ricardo Gareca’s team should be looking to beat their Australian counterparts regardless of the circumstances. Peru arguably play host to a better sense of balance all across the pitch, something this ageing Australian squad simply cannot attest to.
Peru’s World Cup Predictions
Nobody really expected Peru to actually qualify for the 2018 World Cup this summer. In simply claiming their place at the upcoming tournament, this team have already gone above and beyond most people’s expectations.
Yet as Peru remain particularly hard to break down on the back of their aforementioned defensive organisation, perhaps some improved fortunes really do await those determined Peruvians. They certainly have it in them to catch a few sides off-guard this summer, which could ultimately be enough to book their place among the latter rounds of the competition.
