Belgium vs Greece Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview

Belgium vs Greece betting tips and predictions for this weekend’s World Cup 2018 qualifying match and a match preview plus the best odds for Saturday’s 7.45pm kick-off.

Belgium could take a huge step to qualifying for the World Cup in Russia next year if they manage to beat Greece on Saturday night. Here are some tips and predictions for the game between the top two sides in Group H of the European qualifying at the moment.

Belgium have won their last four competitive fixtures scoring twenty-one goals in the process and this has left them top of their World Cup 2018 qualifying group. Many fans were sceptical when it was announced that Roberto Martinez would be leading the Belgium national team but he has got them scoring goals from all over the place and have looked very good in the competitive fixtures so far under him. The big test will be next year in Russia should they qualify for the World Cup but they should be winning the majority of their qualifying games with ease.

Greece are currently Belgium’s closest challengers in Group H and have won three and drawn one of their four qualifying games so far. They are a very unpredictable side though as shown by their last two friendlies. They lost one nil to Belarus in November but before that they defeated Holland 2-1 in a friendly in September and this shows that they can spring a surprise against the bigger nations but I don’t expect to see one on Saturday evening.

Belgium vs Greece Predictions

My first Belgium vs Greece prediction is going to be for Belgium to score 3 goals first. This just means that Belgium have to score three goals before Greece for the bet to be a winner. I fully expect Belgium to win but the odds are very poor for win only so I have tried to find value elsewhere. Belgium have scored at least three goals in all of their World Cup qualifiers so far and I expect that to continue even though they are up against slightly stronger opposition. Race to 3 goals – Belgium is 6/4 at William Hill.

My second Belgium vs Greece betting tip is for Belgium to grab a goal in the early stages of the match. They have scored before the 30th minute in each of their qualifiers so far and Greece conceded a goal against minnows Gibraltar in the first thirty minutes so I expect the attacking talent of Belgium to shine through quite early in the game. William Hill are offering 11/10 for Belgium to score their first goal in the first thirty minutes.

My third and final selection for a Belgium vs Greece betting tip is going to be in the anytime goal scorer market and it is going to be for a player who is in red hot form so far this season. Dries Mertens has scored twenty-five goals in all competitions for Napoli including one last weekend against Empoli. He has also scored three goals in his last two competitive games for Belgium and is 6/4 to score at any time with Betfair.

Belgium v Greece Team News

Eden Hazard has had to withdraw from the squad with a calf injury that he suffered at Chelsea last week and has been replaced by his brother Thorgan Hazard. Premier League regulars Romelu Lukaku, Kevin De Bruyne and Toby Alderweireld are all in the squad and are expected to start against Greece. The latter will have to watch out for Kostas Mitroglou as he will be leading the line for the Greeks on Saturday.

Belgium v Greece Head to Head

The last match that these two sides played was an international friendly in February 2012 and the game finished 1-1. Greece have beaten their opponents three times in their last five meetings but surely they won’t add to that tally this time around.

Belgium vs Greece Betting Odds

Belgium are short priced favourites for this match and are 3/10 for the win with Sky Bet. The draw is best priced 9/2 with Betfred and a shock win for Greece is 10/1 with Bet365. Romelu Lukaku has been in the headlines recently and he is 3/1 to open the scoring with William Hill and if you fancy him and my anytime goal scorer tip both to score then this is 18/5 with William Hill.
