Wales vs Serbia Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview

Wales vs Serbia betting tips and predictions for this weekend’s World Cup 2018 qualifying match including a first goalscorer tip and the best odds for each selection.

Can Wales get back on course for the 2018 World Cup with a victory here? The Euro 2016 semi-finalists drew 1-1 with Georgia last time out, so they can’t afford any more slip-ups. This is an incredibly tight group, with Serbia currently joint top, alongside the Republic of Ireland. That would make three points huge for the Welsh.

Wales vs Serbia Predictions

While Wales built their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign on a strong defence, things haven’t gone to well since. They’ve kept just one clean sheet in their last five, and now they’re up against in from Newcastle forward Aleksandar Mitrovic. He’s hit six goals in his last seven, including two for Serbia against Austria last month. With the Welsh scoring, but conceding too many, we like the look of both teams to score for our first Wales vs Serbia betting tip. It’s priced at evens with Betfair.

While the Welsh are struggling at the back, they still made it to the semi-finals in France during the summer. The Serbians may top this group, but they aren’t a great side. Any team who are sticking with Branislav Ivanovic at the back are obviously short of options. We’re backing a home win for the second Wales vs Serbia prediction this weekend, which is priced at 6/4 with William Hill.

Wales vs Serbia Team News

Wales are without Tottenham left back Ben Davies for this clash. They are set to welcome back two important players here, with Jonny Williams and Aaron Ramsey both going straight in to the starting 11. Serbia are set to have six English based players in their starting line-up, including Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic and Nemanja Matic.

Head to Head Stats

These two met in qualifying for the 2014 World Cup, and it didn’t go too well for the Welsh. Serbia won 3-0 here in September 2013, a year after hammering them 6-1 at home. A lot of this current squad would have been around the team at that point, it’s a memory they need to banish from their minds ahead of this weekend’s game.

Wales vs Serbia Betting Odds

Wales are narrow favourites here, but the bookies seem to think that this will be an open game. The best place for value on this game is the anytime scorer market. Gareth Bale is 6/4 with Bet Victor to score here, while Sky Bet price Serbia’s Mitrovic at 9/4. However, our pick for a Wales vs Serbia first goalscorer tip is even larger odds, and we’re not quite sure why. Joe Allen is on a fantastic run, scoring five times in his last eight. We’re backing him to find the net again, at 5/1 with Betfred.
