World Cup Predictions: Why Brazil will win the 2018 World Cup in Russia

World Cup Betting Tips

Brazil are favourites to win the 2018 World Cup in Russia, and it’s not hard to see why. They look like having a great chance in the tournament and will look to right the wrongs of their home World Cup four years ago.

The World Cup draw took place in December and Brazil were handed a favourable draw. They are in Group E with Switzerland, Costa Rica and Serbia. We’ll take a look at Brazil’s predicted route to the World Cup final later on, but they should have no trouble navigating their way out of their World Cup group this summer.

Brazil’s World Cup Squad

Brazil look to have strength and depth in numbers ahead of the World Cup. As long as Neymar is fit, the Brazilians have a fantastic squad that will be spearheaded by PSG’s main man. The Brazil forward line should be one of the best in Russia. Neymar will likely be joined by the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Firmino, Willian and Barcelona playmaker Coutinho. The midfield will have added steel from Paulinho, Casemiro and Fernandinho. Defence is always the weakness for Brazil but with Thiago Silva and Miranda providing fantastic experience they should be fine. Dani Alves will be a big loss at right-back but Marcelo will be the attacking threat from left-back. Manchester City’s Ederson will push Roma’s Allison for the goalkeeper spot. The squad is perfectly balanced for Brazil to win the World Cup.

Brazil’s World Cup 2018 Qualifying Record

After losing the very first match in World Cup 2018 qualifying against Chile (who ultimately failed to qualify), Brazil didn’t look back. From there they won 12 and drew five, scoring the most goals in qualifying (41) and conceding the fewest (11). This run included a creditable draw in Argentina and eight wins in nine matches at home, keeping six clean sheets. Gabriel Jesus and Neymar scored 13 goals between them in qualifying and Paulinho chipped in with six goals of his own from midfield.

Brazil’s Route to Winning the World Cup

We’re predicting Brazil will win their group comfortably, so they will play the team to finish second in Group F. This should see them avoid Germany who are predicted to win that group so Mexico, Sweden or South Korea will be waiting in the last 16. In the quarter finals Brazil are expected to meet the winner of Group G. That should be England or Belgium. If our World Cup predictions are correct then Brazil will face France in the semi-finals. They are another of the favourites in the latest World Cup betting odds, but we’re hoping Brazil get through that. The final could be a match-up between Brazil and either Argentina or Germany – a grudge match either way. It was Germany that embarrassed Brazil in the last World Cup, winning 7-1. An all South American final would also be a special occasion.

Group Stage: Switzerland, Costa Rica, Denmark.

Last 16: Mexico.

Quarter Finals: Belgium.

Semi-final: France.

Final: Argentina.
