Horse Racing Tips: Best Bets for Tuesday’s Meetings at Exeter, Kempton, Newcastle & Yarmouth

Recent Rockingham Stakes winner Canonized grabs the attention in the 3:25 at Newcastle, but there’s plenty of action elsewhere to whet the appetite.
We’ve highlighted our best bests at Exeter, Kempton and Yarmouth, too.

Exeter: 1:30 Racing TV Profits Returned To Racing Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle 2m2½f
Soul Icon failed to beat a single rival on his first four starts, but proved a revelation when switched to front-running tactics, under today’s rider, at Huntingdon two weeks ago. Making his handicap debut, the Sixties Icon gelding made all to win comfortably and a 6lb rise in the weights looks entirely fair. He drops back a furlong in distance on slightly faster ground but, with his confidence boosted, looks a decent bet to follow up.
Selection: Soul Icon (4/1 with Betfred)
Kempton: 8:00 Unibet Casino Handicap 1m4f
Diamond Bay has officially improved by 14lb since stepped up to middle distances at Windsor in July and may not have finished yet. He returned from a short break to win readily over course and distance last month and defied a 6lb rise in the weights when following up, albeit all out, at Wolverhampton 10 days later. He’s another 3lb higher in the weights in a slightly better race here, but appeals as the type to follow until beaten.
Selection: Diamond Bay (10/3 with William Hill)
Newcastle: 3:25 Watch Racing Free Online At Coral EBF Conditions Stakes 6f
The consistent Canonized makes her Tapeta debut – as do three of her rivals – and, officially, has 5lb to find with Sam Maximus. However, William Haggas’ filly has been in cracking form in recent weeks, going down by a short head in the Group 3 Firth of Clyde Fillies’ Stakes at Ayr last month – on her second start within 24 hours – and winning the Listed Rockingham Stakes at York 10 days ago. It will be disappointing if she doesn’t go, at least, very close here.
Selection: Canonized (11/8 with William Hill)
Yarmouth: 1:55 British EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes 6f
Only two of these have raced more than twice, but Clitheroe’s form has worked out well enough to suggest that the daughter of Mill Reef Stakes winner Ribchester is an above-average recruit. She still showed signs of inexperience when fifth in the Prestige Stakes at Goodwood in August but, with the winner, Mise En Scene, subsequently only beaten 3 lengths by 1,000 Guineas favourite Inspiral in the bet365 Fillies’ Mile at Newmarket, she looks to have a bright future.
Selection: Clitheroe (10/11 with William Hill)
