Horse Racing Tips: FIVE Best Bets for Fridays Meetings at Ascot, Catterick & Chepstow
Once again, there are some great Jumps cards to look forward to on Friday afternoon with racing coming from Ascot, Catterick and Chepstow.
We’ve cast our eye over each race from these three meetings and highlighted our five best bets of the day below.

Chepstow – 12:00
The first race of the afternoon is the Class 4 Mares’ Handicap Chase over 2m7½f at Chepstow, where the Fergal O’Brien trained The Toojumpa is expected to make it back-to-back wins. She had a bit in hand when making a winning start for her new yard at Worcester 30 days ago and we think she can defy a 5lb rise in the weights to follow up here. Connor Brace takes the ride.
Selection: The Toojumpa (11/8 with William Hill)
Catterick – 12:45
Sonning was a fairly useful performer on the Flat, and although he was beaten in his first run over hurdles last month at Wincanton, when being sent out at odds-on-favourite, he can improve for that experience. He is from the impressive Alan King yard and has A P Heskin on board for this Class 4 Juvenile Hurdle over 1m7½f.
Selection: Sonning (11/10 with William Hill)
Ascot – 12:55
Only four are expected to go to post in this Class 3 Novices Handicap Chase, but it looks a competitive contest over 2m3f, nonetheless. The selection is Torn And Frayed who was making his chasing debut when beating one his rivals today, Faivoir. With the benefit of that experience, he can confirm the form and land the spoils for the Twiston-Davies team.
Selection: Torn And Frayed (5/4 with William Hill)
Catterick – 13:55
Minella Trump is reflective of the fantastic season his trainer, Donald McCain, is enjoying. He is sent to Catterick for this Class 3 Novices’ Chase over 2m3f and is looking to land an incredible seven-timer. His winning streak began in May at Perth, but he has also returned to the winner’s enclosure at Sedgefield, and most recently at Sandown just 12 days ago. He seems to be going from strength-to-strength and will once again be partnered by champion Jump jockey, Brian Hughes.
Selection: Minella Trump (8/13 with William Hill)
Chepstow – 14:55
Emma Lavelle sends out Young Butler for only his third career start, but he made a promising C&D hurdling debut last month to finish third. There is plenty to recommend him for on his breeding and with improvement expected, he can land this Class 4 contest. Tom Bellamy is back in the saddle.
Selection: Young Butler (11/8 with William Hill)
