Horse Racing Tips: Four Best Each-Way Bets for Racing at Hereford and Wetherby
We have a great afternoon of jump racing to look forward to on Wednesday 24 November, with action coming over the fences and timber from Hereford and Wetherby.
We’ve looked at each race from these two meetings and highlighted our four best each-way bets below.

Hereford – 13:00
David Dennis sends out Merry Mistress in this Class 5 Handicap Hurdle over 2m3½f and she gets the each-way nod. Her last two outings on her return from a summer break were over 2m, so this stiffer trip could be what she wants after two runs. When she last went over a similar distance it was over 2m4f in a Class 3 race at Uttoxeter in May, where she wasn’t disgraced, so is expected to go well here. Tom Bellamy takes the ride.
Selection: Merry Mistress (6/1 with William Hill)
Wetherby – 13:45
Thelongwayaround has not been seen on the track since March and has had a wind op during his 249-day break, which could work out well for him and his trainer, Sue Smith. He goes in this Class 4 Handicap Chase over a demanding 3m. However, the handicapper has given him a chance by dropping him 5lbs from his last run, and 9lb since tackling this sort of distance. Ryan Mania in the saddle is a positive and so gets our each-way vote.
Selection: Thelongwayaround (4/1 with William Hill)
Wetherby – 14:50
Just five runners are expected to go to post for this very competitive looking Class 3 Handicap Chase over 1m7f. The votes goes to Cedar Hill under the ride of Ryan Mania again after he returned from a six-month break with a promising run at Musselburgh last month. He looks to still be on a handy mark and can land this race for trainer, Sandy Thomson.
Selection: Cedar Hill (3/1 with William Hill)
Wetherby – 15:20
A number of newcomers go in the final race of the afternoon at Wetherby, the Class 5 Mare’s Open National Hunt Flat Race over 2m where it might pay to back the Skelton team and Betty Getaway on her first appearance. She looks to have good breeding and trainer, Dan Skelton, should have her primed for a crack at this distance. With little form to go on, she can prove to be an interesting prospect, especially with Harry Skelton in the saddle. She gets our each-way vote at a nice price.
Selection: Betty Getaway (5/1 with William Hill)
