Lingfield: 2:45 Play 4 To Win At Betway Handicap 1m2f

As is often the case in these low-grade handicaps, recent winning form is in short supply. However, course and distance winner Miss Sligo returns from a short break just 1lb higher in the weights than when last successful and may be ready to win again. Her subsequent form has been respectable, if unspectacular, and she could represent some value in a run-of-the-mill contest.

Southwell: 2:30 Evanis A Legend, Wiguagain Duck Maiden Hurdle 2m

The stoutly-bred Calidad has a record of steady improvement and ran his best race yet when runner-up in an ordinary novices’ hurdle at Fontwell last time. Exactly what that form amounts to is hard to judge, but he’s entitled to improve for that run, his first since June, and looks to have every chance of shedding his maiden tag. Trainer Harry Whittington has done well with his hurdlers at Southwell in recent years.

Newcastle: 4:45 MansionBet Beaten By A Head Handicap 7f

Millionaire Waltz completed a quick-fire course and distance hat-trick earlier this month, but takes a rise in class off a 6lb higher mark, which may be enough to bring his winning run to an end. Oso Rapido, on the other hand, is proven in this grade, having won a 0-80 contest over 6 furlongs on the same card on his Tapeta debut. He, too, is 4lb higher in the weights, but is equally effective over 7 furlongs and may be capable of better yet on the surface.
