Horse Racing Tips: Three Eyecatchers to Consider on Thursday

Thatsagoal Racing Tips

Racing on Thursday comes from Market Rasen, Newcastle and Wincanton.

As ever, we’ve tried to look beyond the ‘bare bones’ of the form and come up with three selections that, we believe, should give you plenty of bang for your buck!

Market Rasen: 1:22 Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle 2m7f16y

Jesuitique is 2-2 since joining Dr. Richard Newland last month and is due to go up 5lb in future, but steps up in class and distance on going faster than he’s tackled before, so may be worth taking on at a short price. The suggestion is Small Present, who reverts to hurdles after a less-than-stellar chasing debut at Carlisle last month, but is just 4lb higher in the weights than when winning a similar race at Haydock in the spring. He is blessed with an abundance of stamina and clearly effective on the prevailing going.

Selection: Small Present (10/1 with William Hill)

Newcastle: 3:07 Live Casino, Games Slots At Vickers.Bet Handicap Hurdle 2m46y

Unseasonably fast ground at High Gosforth Park adds another level of complexity to this, already tricky, contest. However, Kensington Art has recorded both wins over hurdles on good going and escapes a penalty for a narrow victory in a conditional jockeys’ handicap hurdle at Kempton 10 days ago. In fact, Donald McCain’s five-year-old is 4lb ‘well in’ compared with future engagements so, while he may not be one to go overboard about, must have every chance of following up.

Selection: Kensington Art (3/1 with William Hill)

Wincanton: 3:50 Somerset “Hands And Heels” Novices’ Handicap Hurdle 1m7f50y

Interestingly, Amelia’s Dance started favourite for the aforementioned contest, won by Kensington Art, at Kempton 10 days ago, eventually finishing third, beaten three-quarters of a length and half a length. She didn’t help her cause by making a mistake at the final flight on that occasion, but takes a slight drop in class off an identical handicap mark, so may be able to pick up the winning thread. Eleanor Williams, daughter of Vale of Glamorgan trainer Evan, looks to have picked up a decent outside ride for Robert Walford.

Selection: Amelia’s Dance (6/1 with William Hill)
