ITV Racing Tips for Aintree and Wincanton on Saturday 11th November

Aintree tips

1:15 Wincanton

The first race from Wincanton on ITV is the 1:15 and it is a handicap chase over 2m4f restricted to the conditional jockeys.

I like ENJOY YOUR LIFE (4/1) here. He sneaks into this running off 10’10 with Ned Fox’s 3lb claim taken into consideration. The Venetia Williams stable are in flying form and they can hardly put a foot wrong at present. Enjoy Your Life ran to a respectable level over hurdles last season but gave the impression he’d always be a better chaser for connections. He had good form on soft ground in France including a handicap chase win and I think he’ll be winning off a mark of 110 sooner rather than later.

1:50 Wincanton

Next up we have the Grade 2 Rising Star Novices Chase over 2m4f.

I expect KNAPPERS HILL (8/11) to take this. He jumped well on debut to finish a good second behind Unexpected Party at Chepstow. Nicholls’ horses are hit and miss at the moment but I’d expect them to all improve significantly for their seasonal debut. He was the best hurdler of this lot and this track and trip ought to see him to best effect. I suspect he’ll have too much speed and class for his rivals here.

2:25 Wincanton

The 2:25 race is the competitive Badger Beer Handicap Chase over the 3m1f trip.

I’m happy to take on the Nicholls pair here and I’ve landed on SAM BROWN (8/1) EW. 11 years of age but he ran at a very decent level last season which included a fine third in the Charlie Hall Chase, a Grade 2 chase. When we last seen him, he was 2 lengths clear jumping the second last in a very competitive handicap chase. He has a decent record fresh and off a mark of 152, I think he’s overpriced.

2:45 Aintree

The 2:45 from Aintree is the Grand Sefton Chase over the national fences. Only 11 runners go to post for the 2m5f contest.

It’s FRERO BANBOU (10/1) NB for me here. Venetia Williams has started the season in fine fettle and this horse strikes me at the type to really relish the unique test that is the national fences. It is going to be slog on this ground and he has a fine record on deep ground which includes victories on heavy ground. He steps up in trip and the way he finishes his races over 2 miles on a going day suggests this could arguably bring out a decent chunk of improvement.

3:00 Wincanton

It’s back to Wincanton for the 3:00 race. It is  the Elite Hurdle ran over just shy of 2 miles.

It’s HANSARD (2/1) I like in this. He started last season with two decent victories, firstly at Huntingdon before following up at Plumpton. He then went to the Dovecote Hurdle at Kempton going off a well-backed 9/4 favourite. He ran too keen then and was well beaten in the end. However, he had a nice break and returned to action at Aintree in April. He ran a belter there finishing a close 4th in a decent Grade 1 hurdle over an extended 2 miles. I think he has a lot of ability this horse and I’d favour him over the favourite at the prices.

3:20 Aintree

The second race from Aintree on ITV is a three runner hurdle race over 2m4f and all three are capable of winning.

I’ll chance MILLERS BANK (7/2) NAP here. Likely to go from the front with proven stamina over further, I’ll take a chance he’ll gut this one out from the front as it can be hard to pick up rivals here at Aintree on soft ground. Millers Bank, normally seen to best effect over the larger obstacles, he is a Grade 1 winner over them here at Aintree so the track shouldn’t hold any fears. He’s also finished third in the Grade 1 Aintree Hurdle over this trip not beaten far which was his best run over the smaller obstacles. He had Brewinupastorm in behind that day too off level weights and he gets 6lb off that rival today. Albeit, that was in 2021 but both have continued to show a decent level of form since. West Balbao is odds-on and she could improve past these two but the price is far too short. At the prices, the outsider of the three looks the value.

3:32 Wincanton

The finale on ITV is a mares handicap hurdle over the extended 2m5f distance.

It’s VICKIE VALE (5/1) EW for me here. A winner on her novice hurdle debut last season bolting up at Hereford. The Skelton stable obviously thought a lot of her because she was put into the Challow Hurdle on just her second start. That ground got the better of her that day but she returned to a solid level of form in four runs after finishing with a decent victory at Taunton. She’s had a wind operation over the summer and a mark of 118 has to be well within her reach. Jockey Triston Durrell takes off a further 5lb too.
