ITV Racing Tips for Cheltenham & Fontwell on Sunday 19th November

Cheltenham accumulator tips

1:45 Cheltenham

The first of four live ITV races from Cheltenham is a 2m4f handicap chase for the novice chasers.

I’d give MR SAXOBEAT (9/1) a chance here. He pulled up after the last here in October but he came with a winning chance 2 out before all but falling at the least and being eased down. He’s generously been dropped 2lb for that effort and prior to that he’d been running to a decent consistent level. Thomas Gibney has his horses in fine fettle and Daryl Jacob will look to ease him into this from off the pace.

2:04 Fontwell

We head to Fontwell for one race and it’s the Southern National Handicap Chase. Only five runners are set to go post for the stamina sapping 3m3f race on heavy ground.

I’d chance rank outsider MAX DYNAMO (17/2) here. 13 years of age now but he didn’t appear to be slowing down last season when aged 12. He won a decent race at Chepstow in February before finishing a fine sixth in the Midlands National at Uttoxeter. He went to Cheltenham in April and looked like he needed a break. He’s been freshened up since and he comes straight here in a race that is going to suit him well. He’s the only course winner in the line-up which is a positive on a unique track like this and I think he’s a value bet in this small field.

2:20 Cheltenham

The 2:20 race from Cheltenham is another race for the staying chasers, again over the extended 3m3f trip.

It’s FIRST LORD DE CUET (11/1) EW for me here. He returns off a mark of 128 for this seasonal reappearance which was the same mark he returned off last season. On that occasion, he ran a cracker finishing a close second to Complete Unknown pulling 9 lengths clear of the third. He sneaks in nest the bottom for the weights running off 11 stone and the Pipe team have been amongst the winners. The selection has had wind surgery over the summer which can hopefully squeak out further improvement and he’s proven on a soft surface.

2:55 Cheltenham

The 2:55 is an me of the two feature races and it is a decent renewal of the Grade 2 Shloer Chase over 2 miles.

This is tricky but at the prices, I’d have to take EDWARDSTONE (16/5). A star chaser last season winning the Tingle Creek on his reappearance which was one of the best performances we seen last year. Hes a consistent sort and I believe the ground was just too tacky in the Queen Mother last year. Alan King gave him the rest of the season off after that and he’s been freshened up for this. He is the standard setter and he should be closer to Jonbon in the market for me. There will be plenty of pace on here obviously and it’ll take a serious horse to beat him if he’s back to the form we expect. Obviously, Jonbon could be that serious horse but he’s too short.

3.30 Cheltenham

The final race on ITV comes up at 3:30 and it is the competitive Greatwood Handicap hurdle over the extended 2m trip.

It’s LUCCIA (11/1) EW for me here. I think she’s a seriously talented mare but she is still raw. However, a mark of 136 is well within her reach and a race of this nature looks sure to suit her well. She returned to action at Wetherby finishing a fair second to You Wear It Well pulling way clear of the remainder. I think she’ll come on for that and she’s certainly unexposed in a race of this nature. She’s a very fair each-way price on ground we know she enjoys.
