ITV Racing Tips for Saturday 29th May from Haydock, Beverley and Chester

Chester races tips

As Royal Ascot gets ever nearer, we are looking for more clues for some of those races and there is listed action from Haydock this weekend, as well as two Group 3 races and a competative handicap from Beverley.

Henry has gone through each of the eight live ITV Races and picked out his selections for each. There is also the Champions League final tonight and 888Sport are giving people a free £20 on the match, and a free £20 bet on Euro 2020 when you sign-up and bet £10 on today’s racing!

1:45 Haydock

The first race live on ITV comes up at 1:45 and it is a wide open 6f handicap with Bielsa heading the market at around 5/1.

The one I like here is COLD STARE EW (9/1). A previous course and distance winner as he won this race back in 2019 on heavy ground. The ground isn’t going to be quite as bad this year but it’ll be tacky and it won’t suit many of the market leaders. David O’Meara is very good with his sprinters in handicap and I find the booking of Oisin Murphy a very eye-catching one.

2:00 Beverley

We head to Beverley for the next race and it is a 5f sprint for the 2-year old fillies. A good draw is important round this sharp turning track as bagging the inside rail can prove crucial.

The one I like here is KYBER CRYSTAL NAP (7/4). She had a lovely draw as she’s drawn in stall 4 and her debut run couldn’t have worked as much better. She finished second behind recent Sandown winner Ebro River on that outing and she looked in need of experience there. With improvement to come here, she will prove very tough to beat in my book.

2:20 Haydock

The 2:20 race is a listed contest for the more experienced sprinters over 5f. A few familiar names line up here and it’s a competitive looking affair.

The one for me is here is DUBAI STATION EW (18/1). He is a course and distance winner and will have no issues with the ground today. He has tumbled down in the weights and he’s more than capable of winning off this mark if on a going day. He’s had two runs for new stable David O’Meara and I’m hoping he’ll be at peak fitness now and can take advantage of the lenient handicap mark. De Sousa is a great jockey booking and he’s a nice big each way price.

2:40 Chester

We head to the Roudee for the next race and it is a 7f handicap. Again, we know how important the draw is at Chester especially if the ground continues to dry out.

The one I like is BOARDMAN (6/1) who has shown significant improvement this year and looks a horse going places. He won as easy as you like last time out at York and if he can get out of the stalls well today, I think he can win again off a mark of 90.

2:55 Haydock

The 2:55 from Haydock is our first Group race of the afternoon, a Group 3 race for the fillies and mares over 1m3f and a bit more.

The one I like is CABALETTA NB (15/8) who I think will improve for the fitting of blinkers. She can race a bit lazily and the blinkers will hopefully do the trick today. She finished third on her seasonal debut but that trip was too short for her and I’m sure that was a stepping stone in which connections would expect her to improve for. Best horse in the race on ability.

3:10 Beverley

The 3:10 race is a another sprint over 5f, this time for the 2 year-olds.

I like STRAITS OF MOYLE (11/2) here. Although we haven’t seen him on the track yet he is all speed on breeding and has the inside draw of stall 1. I expect him to bounce out and hopefully make all for a Richard Fahey stable who won this contest last year so know what it takes. He also receives weights from his rivals as he’s the only newcomer.

3:30 Haydock

The final race from Haydock today is a Group 3 over 7f. Safe Voyage is the favourite at the time of writing and is sure to run a decent race.

However, I much prefer the chances of WITH THANKS (9/2) who could improve past these as he’s one of the least exposed horses heading into this season within this line-up. He will relish these conditions today and he has already proved he’s more than capable of competing at this class given he won a Group 3 well last time out at Naas. With improvement to come in my opinion he’s a good bet today.

3:45 Beverley

The finale on ITV is a tricky 7f handicap and Sibaaq is a worthy favourite for Mark Johnston on all known form.

However, I’ll take a punt on one each way here and that one is MUNTADEB EW (16/1). He ran a big race last time out at York in a race I expect to work out pretty well. He was up with the pace throughout there and he just gave in in the last half a furlong. This race looks significantly easier and the track should suit his style well.
