Saturday’s ITV Racing Tips from Goodwood, Beverley and Newmarket

Glorious Goodwood tips 2021

There are seven races live on ITV Racing this weekend including the Beverley Bullet and the Celebration Mile at Goodwood. Henry has picked out his betting tips for each race and you can read the previews below.

Things get underway at 1.50pm from Goodwood and the final race on the ITV coverage is at 3.35pm.

1:50 Goodwood

The opener on ITV is a Group 3 for the 2 year-old fillies over the 7f trip.

My selection is CLITHEROE (6/1 with William Hill). She was well backed on her debut suggesting her homework has been good. She finished a promising second only beaten a head by Dubai Jewel and the winner that day also looks like a useful filly. The experience might just have been the difference that day and it was Dubai Jewels fourth run compared to Clitheroe’s debut. Clitheroe will come on for that effort you’d like to think and I expect this daughter of Ribchester to go close in the opener.

2:05 Beverley

We head to Beverley next for the 2:05 and it is the Silver Cup Handicap over the extended 1m1f trip.

The one I like is TITIAN (9/2 with bet365). The duo of William Haggas and Tom Marquand come alive at this time of year and they are currently both operating at a healthy strike rate. Titian has useful form from his 2 year-old campaign and if he has improved from 2 to 3 which I believe will be the case, this mark of 86 will be well within reach.

2:25 Goodwood

The 2:25 at Goodwood is another 7f handicap for punters to get stuck into.

I like the favourite here ARATUS NB (5/2 with William Hill). The son of Free Eagle is progressing well throughout the season and is still unexposed. He settled better in his last race which suggests to me he’s learning on the job and he looks set for bigger things than handicaps in my opinion. That win last time out at Newbury was pretty decisive and I think that’s a race that will work out well. He can continue his progression up the ladder and win this contest off only a 4lb higher mark.

2:45 Newmarket

We head to Newmarket for one race next and that is 6f listed race known as the Hopeful Stakes.

The one I like is KHAADEM NAP (8/1 with Paddy Power). He’s certainly a quirky sort and he’s the type that will improve for the fitting of these first-time blinkers. The ground will be a huge positive for him as his best form has come on a quicker surface and this course and distance winner has the ability to go very close here today.

3:00 Goodwood

Just the five runners are set to go to post for the 3.00 race. A 1m6f Group 3 contest called the March Stakes.

My selection is NAGANO (10/11 with Betfred). I just think he’s the best horse in this race and he’s a lot more unexposed than some of his rivals here. He is proven over this unique course as he won a handicap over 1m4f here on his latest start. I think the step-up in trip will be fine and he’ll be tough to beat.

3:15 Beverley

The big one from Beverley is next up and it’s the famous Beverley Bullet Sprint Stakes over the 5f trip.

My selection in it is HURRICANE IVOR (6/1 with William Hill). One of the more unexposed horses in today’s line-up he’s shown us strong handicap form on multiple occasions this season and I think the step up to listed company won’t be an issue. The race will suit him well as he’ll be able to sit just off the strong pace and get a lovely toe into this. His best form comes on a quicker surface which he’ll get today and compensation awaits after his unlucky effort last time out at York.

3:35 Goodwood

The final from Goodwood is the Celebration Mile, a Group 2 contest where Benbatl heads the market for Godolphin.

However, I like CHINDIT (10/3 with bet365) here for the Hannon team. He certainly has the strongest form from the 3 year-olds lining up here and he gets plenty of weight from Benbatl. His effort last time out at Deauville should not go unnoticed as he finished 5th in a Group 1 win by the best miler Palace Pier. He wasn’t beaten far at all that day and a repeat of that run may well prove good enough to take this Group 2.
