Today’s ITV Racing Tips from Punchestown, Cork and Kelso

ITV Racing rolls into its third consecutive day today and they have a bumper 10 races covered from the UK and Ireland. Our ITV Racing tips for today cover all 10 from Punchestown, Cork and Kelso.

There are more big names back in action today as the likes of Chacun Pour Soi, Min, Samcro and Allaho do battle in Ireland.

Yesterday we seen Santini get turned over at Aintree and Politilogue winning the Tingle Creek at Sandown and now it is the Irish chasers turn in the spotlight. We’re likely to get more clues for our ante-post Cheltenham Festival tips today.

1:10 Punchestown

The opener from Punchestown is a listed contest for the mare novices over 2m4f.

The horse I like is FINEST EVERMORE who has been really impressive since joining Willie Mullins and she can take this step up in class in her stride. The ground will be great for her and I think she is better than the rest of the field comfortably.

 

1:25 Cork

The Hilly Way Chase is up next, a Grade 2 contest over 2m.

The winner for me here is CHACUN POUR SOI who I believe will be the Champion Chaser come March. He is a Grade 1 chaser and the rest of the field aren’t near that level. He’ll win and win pretty easily.

 

1:40 Punchestown

The next race is the best race of the weekend and it’s the Group 1 John Durkin Chase over 2m4f. Ryanair winner Min heads the market and will be tough to beat if on a going day. He is inconsistent though so I’m happy to look elsewhere.

I like ALLAHO here. I think this is the perfect trip for this horse and I’m hoping he goes from the front and proves tough to pass. The RSA Chase form from last year is working out well and I think he will progress again this season as he is still a young horse with scope for further improvement.

1:55 Cork

The 1:55 race is next and that is a Mares Novice Chase over 2m.

The one for me here is SAPPHIRE LADY. She jumped really well on her chase debut and I think she can put that jumping ability to good use here against rivals that have some jumping question marks. The ground will be fine for her and I expect a bold bid.

 

2:10 Punchestown 

The 2:10 race is a very compatible handicap hurdle over 2m4f and it’ll be a test for all horses on this deep ground with plenty of runners.

The one I’ve landed on is THE GREAT WHITE. He looked in need of the comeback run last time out and a trip that’s short of his optimum. This race will have been the target and he has a lovely racing weight for this contest.

 

2:30 Cork

It’s back to Cork we go for a stayers novice hurdle over 3m. This will be a real test for these novices on this ground and it’s a worry many of the runners could leave their season here.

The one for me is SAYCE GOLD (NAP). He should have no issues with the trip and ground and I was impressed with him last time out. He jumped well there and stayed on strongly to win going away. I expect more improvement will follow.

 

2:45 Kelso

The 2:45 race is the first of two races live from Kelso on ITV and it is a Novice Chase over just shy of 3m.

The one for me here is ELF DE RE. The horse race a great race on chase debut before disappointing last time out. I’m happy to forgive him one bad run and he now returns to a track he’s won at before which will hopefully help him bounce back. Trainer Sandy Thompson is having a good season and hopefully, he can have another ITV tip winner here today.

 

3:00 Cork

The 3:00 from Cork is nice and it is a handicap hurdle over 2m.

The one for me is PIKE COUNTY (NB). This horse would have won last time out if he managed to get over the last hurdle last time out at Naas and he can make amends for that final flight blunder here by rewarding his followers with a win.

 

3:10 Punchestown

It’s back to Punchestown we go for a handicap Chase over just over 3m and jumping well and conserving energy will prove crucial. That’s why I’m happy to look away from the favourite who jumped poorly last time out.

The one for me is GETADAY. This horse is fairly unexposed compared to a lot of his rivals and I think this step up in trip could help bring out the necessary improvement to get in the winners enclosure. Trainer TJ Nagle Jnr has had a winner recently and he can add to his tally here.

 

3:20 Kelso

The final race from Kelso is a 4m contest and it’s a wide-open contest.

The one I like is DUC DE GRISSAY. This horse is a previous course winner and he ran a solid race last time out finishing 4th in the Durham National. That will have him spot on for this contest and staying the trip won’t be an issue.

 

3:40 Punchestown

The bumper is the finale and there is a few intriguing runners here that will be worthy for the tracker.

The ITV Racing tip today is ASLUKWOODHAVIT. Willie Mullins know what it takes to win bumper races and he has a fantastic record in this contest. He appeals on breeding and I’m sure he’ll be ready to go first time out.
