Tuesday Racing Tips: Nap Selections at Market Rasen, Taunton & Southwell

Tuesday’s meeting at Market Rasen, where the going is heavy, soft in places, needed to pass an inspection on Monday afternoon, but thankfully goes ahead.

Our eye has alighted on a tempting 3/1 chance at the Lincolnshire course, but we’ve highlighted our nap selections at Taunton and Southwell too!

Jessie Lightfoot earned herself an 11lb rise in the weights when hacking up by 19 lengths over course and distance two weeks ago, but that was just her second attempt over fences. She has yet to win over hurdles, so remains something of a ‘dark horse’, but looks one to follow until she reveals where her limitations lie.

The returning Langer Dan was a comfortable winner of the Imperial Cup at Sandown and lost little, or nothing, in defeat when runner-up to Galopin Des Champs at the Cheltenham Festival on his final start last season. He faces a tough task, conceding weight all ’round after nearly a year off, but may yet have more to offer.

Southwell: 6:00 Betway Handicap 5f

Zarzyni finished strongly when runner-up to the progressive TommyDe Vito over 6 furlongs here last month and, while he doesn’t appear to be crying out for a drop back to the minimum trip, may well be up to the task. David Barron’s 5-year-old only went down by half a length, despite suffering an interrupted passage and can make amends off a handicap mark just 1lb higher.
