York Ebor Festival Day 2 Tips – Preview and Tip for each of the ITV Races on Thursday

ITV Racing is covering another five races from York on Thursday and our tipster Henry has picked out his best bet for each of the live races including the Group 1 Yorkshire Oaks.

The live action gets underway at 1.50pm and we’ve got two each-way tips, a NAP, NB and selection from the Yorkshire Oaks against the current favourite Alpinista.

1:50 York

The opener on Day 2 is the Lowther Stakes, a Group 2 for the 2 year-old fillies over 6 furlongs.

The one I like here is KINTA (14/1) EW. A good winner on her first two career outings at Lingfield and Kempton, she then went to Ascot and ran a cracker at Group 3 level finishing second behind Lezoo. She was doing all her best work late on there and I just get the impression we haven’t got anywhere near the bottom of her yet. She’ll see this 6f out well and that’s not a given for some of the others here. I think she a fantastic each-way bet.

 

2:25 York

The 2:25 race is the Harry Beeby Premier Yearling Stakes over 6f.

It’s SHOULDVEBEENARING (7/2) NB here for me. He stepped forward nicely from his debut effort to win easily at Ripon in a race that is working out well. The Hannon team have a fantastic record in this contest and the early market vibes suggest to me that this may well have always been the number one target.

 

3:00 York

Next up, we have the Clipper Logistics handicap over 7f.

I’ve landed on NORTHERN EXPRESS (10/1) EW here. A consistent sort who always seem to run his best races here at York which does include a win here back in June. He ran a cracker over 7f at Ascot behind Fresh last time out staying on right through the line which suggested this easy mile could be right up his street. I’m hoping the rain stays away as his best form is on a quick surface.

 

3:35 York

The feature on Day 2 is the Group 1 Darley Yorkshire Oaks over the 1m4f trip.

I’ll chance TUESDAY (4/1) here. The Oaks winner was disappointing in the Irish Oaks on her next start but she just didn’t look herself that day and there is no better trainer to get a filly back on track than the master trainer Aiden O’Brien. She’s been freshened up since and Nashwa has obviously done plenty for that Cazoo Oaks form winning at Group 1 level twice since. She gets plenty of weight off the favourite Alpinista and I think Tuesday will handle any ground so if the market vibes are positive, I think she can return to form and go very close in this.

 

4:10 York

The finale race on ITV comes up at 4:10 and it is the Galtres Stakes, a listed contest for the fillies and mares again over the 1m4f trip.

It’s GOLDEN LYRA (11/4) NAP for me here. A typical Haggas improver who is bred to be very good. She won on debut last year at Newmarket by an astonishing five lengths in a race Nashwa finished third in. She then made her seasonal return in June finishing s good second behind Stay Alert over 1m2f. She then went to Kempton and relished every yard of the 1m4f distance, albeit in a weak race but I think she’ll prove to be a top performing filly and she can take this listed contest before moving on up to Group level.
