13:50 – Rosallion (8/15) Win

Despite the short price I couldn’t find anything to oppose Rosallion here, an impressive Listed winner LTO and the 2nd that day has gone on to take listed honours since. This Group 2 is the natural stepping stone and can provide Blue Point with another stakes winner.

14:25 – Hurricane Ivor (20/1) Each Way

Winner of this race in 2021 off a 10lb higher mark before following up in a Group 3. He is in need of a revival but he’s plummeted down the weights even since his win on Heavy ground in April. Richard Kingscote is a positive booking in my opinion for Jessica Harrington. He will have to get the better of last years winner Call Me Ginger who arrives here on a hat trick but is higher in the weights. There’s some good place value to be had especially with up to 7 places on offer.

15:00 – Sandrine (9/2) Win

Spycatcher is always so consistent on his favoured soft ground. 2nd in a Group 1 LTO he has a chance here to go one better. Audience finished just ahead of Sandrine LTO but they had a good battle and to me it would be no surprise we’re the form to switch around. Slight preference goes to Sandrine who still receives the 3lb allowance and Oisin in the saddle to do the steering.

15:35 – Desert Hero (11/2) Win

The Leger looks a great prospect this year with solid horses throughout a reasonable sized field. A lot will depend on ground, Arrest if it’s bottomless, perhaps Gregory or Continuous if it’s quick. But the most solid option in my opinion is Desert Hero, he’s shown he can do it both ways this season and shapes as though this extra distance will progress him further. Not only that but a Royal Classic winner for the first time since 1977!

16:10 – Simply Sondheim (7/2) Win

I would have to take on this favourite give he’s done all his racing bar his debut on the all weather. Any form has to be taken on trust that it will transfer to the turf, it may well improve him but you just can’t know. Masekela has been well below par this season, Akhu Najla also hasn’t lived up to expectation so far. Simply Sondheim was a handicap revelation last season winning 7 times across the aw and soft going. A tame effort when last seen, he returns to softer going and there’s perhaps a chance he is still improving.

16:45 – At Vimeiro (8/1) Each Way

Let’s Get Em ran a solid race on debut behind an easy winner, Deira Mile probably holds the best current form finishing 3rd at Sandown behind 2 very nice colts. However I was drawn to a newcomer, Jane C-H runs two here, one of which seems to have no chance based on his first two runs however, At Vimeiro holds a Royal Lodge entry at the end of the month, he’s well bred and would be my pick in a tough race.

17:20 – La Trinidad (11/1) Each Way

For a field of 15, most of which are seasoned handicappers across the mile division. La Trinidad is the only C&D winner with Titian being the only other to even win at this Venue. He won easily here in June in a lesser race however he hasn’t run poorly since when in amongst opponents similar to these. He is likely to be a double figure price and his running style often suits these big field handicaps.
