1:40 – Vintage Clarets (13/2) – Each Way

Richard Fahey is running at a huge 21% over the last 2 weeks and an inform Vintage Clarets could well be the answer here, he carries a good racing weight with Callum Hutchinson claiming 3lbs. The only down side is his lack of course form but he has never ran here, it isn’t as if he has ran poorly at this venue. The biggest danger could well be Raasel he’s been mixing it in group company for the last few seasons but he does have a length to find with Vintage Clarets.

2:15 – Array (13/8) – Win

The likely favourite, Array is a well related colt who holds a Gimcrack entry, Baldings often come on for the run and a good showing on debut is of obvious promise. 1/2 brother to Maximal and Jubiloso he could be a very good colt in time and on paper this isn’t the toughest maiden he could have found. The biggest rangers could well be the debutantes, I’m not sure any form on offer can match that of Array, but of course improvement is likely from all of these 2 year olds.

2:50 – Millebosc (5/1) – Each Way

Well backed for his first run back from a break, he was far too back to make any real impression, even more so given the slow running of the race. Marquand and Haggas are a lethal combo and any rain would be welcomed for this former Group 1 third. If the rain did manage to stay away and the ground quickened up the Cadillac would come right into the picture but given the forecast it’s unlikely and he will probably be scratched.

3:25 – Iberian (7/2) – Win

Charlie Hills enlists the help of William Buick on the once raced Iberian. He is lacking experience compared to most of his rivals however he also comes with the most potential. Withdrawn due to the ground at Newmarket, I’m hoping that isn’t the case here and they take a crack at the Group 2 Vintage stakes. I’m not taken by Haatem despite his promising places efforts and Golden Mind finished 3rd in the Chesham which also has some questionable lines of form since.

4:00 – Kinross  (11/8) – Win (NAP)

Cut in the ground and seven furlongs is everything Kinross asks for in a race, a very close 2nd in this race last year and a winner the year before he comes here again for his third crack and there’s not an awful lot standing in his way. Isaac Shelby the 3yo angle, back down to the trip of his Greenham win could be competitive and the Godolphin trained Al Suhail who isn’t the force of old and has been beaten by Kinross previously.

4:35 – Courage Mon Ami (5/2) – Win

Very sad to see Gregory not entered here but that’s racing, his stablemate and Ascot Gold Cup winner takes the baton. He looked all stamina in the Gold Cup and although half a mile shorter, I can’t see it being an issue. Coltrane will definitely be in the picture again, Emily Dickinson likely just to fall short at the top table unless it’s bottomless ground and Eldar Eldarov has to bounce back after his poor performance. Gosden knows how to win these marathon races and I expect him to do so again.

5:05 – Rowayeh (11/2) – Each Way

LTO Rowayeh gave 4lb and a fair beating to Mystic Pearl, which at the time looked a good win, since then Mystic Pearl has gone on to Listed Success at Sandown. Rowayeh remains in handicap company off a mark of 85 and this lightly raced 3yo is likely to have more improvement to come. She’s won on good to soft and Owen Burrows couldn’t be in better form after his big Saturday double with Alflaila and Hukum. There is lots of potential throughout this field and it could be one of the most competitive and interesting races of the day.

5:35 – Sophia’s Starlight (11/1) – Each Way

I have followed this fully all season and she has been a real money spinner, starting off a mark of 69, 4 wins later and a few placed efforts she turns up here off a mark of 87. She goes on all ground and is entirely uncomplicated, she bounces out in from and they all have to catch her. It will be tough to repel this higher level of opposition but she stays further and will certainly be in amongst the action at the finish.
