1:30 Aintree

We start over the National fences on ITV in what is a cracking renewal of the Becker Chase at Aintree. It will be a real test over 3m2f on the soft ground and it’ll be hard for any horse arriving here for their seasonal debut.

Therefore, I like WALK IN THE MILL here. He has a lovely pipe opener at Ascot we’re he finished mid-division. That will have put him spot on for this and I’m sure this has been the target all summer as he seeks to land this contest for a third time.

1:50 Sandown

The 1:50 race is a cracking renewal of the Henry VIII Novices Chase over 2m. Allmankind heads the market and he could relish the railway fences if he jumps as well as he did on chase debut at Warwick.

I like ELDORADO ALLEN here though. I think his stamina will come on to play here as I expect them to go strong up front and the ground will be on the heavy side. He won well at Cheltenham last time out and I believe he had Gumball covered. He can come on again for Tizzard who said it’s the best 2m chaser he’s ever had.

2:05 Aintree

The 2:05 from Aintree is a ace for the juvenile fillies and it’ll be a good test for them over 2m on the rain softened ground.

I like MEGAN NB here. She was very impressive on her racecourse debut when powering clear to win by 10l at Leicester and she gets the same ground again here at Aintree. She is entitled to improve for the racecourse experience last time out and I expect her to progress forward and take this to remain unbeaten.

2:25 Sandown

The Grade 1 Tingle Creek comes up next and there’s not many better sights that the top 2 miler chasers running round Sandown. Altior is now a non-runner in the race.

I like POLITOLOGUE here. This horse just doesn’t get the credit he deserves. He’s a previous winner of the race and at the end of the day he is the champion chaser. The Champion Chase cut up back in March of course but he still jumped like a stag and would have been right there at the finish regardless of who has turned up. I think he’s bound to run his race and will relish the railway fences once more. Skelton keeps the ride.

2:40 Aintree

A great little renewal of the Many Clouds Chase here at Aintree over 3m and it may help provide us with some Gold Cup clues.

Native River returns and Johnson will be eager to get him the front. The same can be said for Frodon who also likes to front run and these two are likely to set a strong pace. I believe this will set it up for SANTINI NAP who can pick them off in the straight and win first time out for yet another season.

3:00 Sandown

The 3:00 at Sandown looks wide open on paper but I guarantee there will only be a handful of finishes. The marathon trip of 3m4f on the deep ground at Sandown will prove to be an absolute slog.

The one I like is CLOUDY GLEN. He was really impressive on his comeback run on similar ground winning by 13l ahead of a decent horse in Christmas in April. He proves that day this 3m4f will be no problem and I think that win will have gave him a lot of confidence as the horse jumped a lot better than he has previously. He can justify a 11lb rise in the weights here.

 3:15 Aintree

The final race from Aintree is another for us over the National fences. This time over the shorter trip of 2m5f and Modus heads the market after winning on the round course here last time out.

I like DIDERO VALLIS here for the Venetia Williams team. Her team are flying at the moment and this horse looked in need of the run last time out at Ascot. I think that will bring the horse on and he strikes me as the type to really enjoy this type of test. The ground should hold no fears.

3:35 Sandown

The finale on a cracking day comes at 3:35 and it’s a handicap hurdle over 2m. The ground will be tacky at this stage and you’ll want a strong stayer over the trip on your betting slip.

The one I like is ROSIE AND MILLER. He was second behind Buzz last time out and I think that’ll prove to be a strong piece of form. He kept on well that day over the same trip on soft ground and he is sure to run his race at a nice price.
