Rocket Morgan Classic Golf Betting Tips 2020

This week on the PGA Tour we head to Detroit for the Rocket Mortgage Classic and Henry ha picked out a few players to bet on. The field isn’t as strong as past weeks and this week’s high scoring feast provides us with a great betting opportunity. Bryson DeChambeau heads the market at 7/1 and he is certainly the class of the field this week but the price is too short for me from a betting perspective.

My first selection is JT POSTON 45/1 EW (William Hill 1/51,2,3,4,5,6,7,8). JT started the resumption strong with a pair of top 10 finishes before his missed cut last week. I am happy to forgive that as this course should suit better. His precision iron play and strong putting stats is a great combination this week and he can certainly go low which is what will be required this week. My next selection is HAROLD VARNER III 66/1 EW (William Hill 1/5 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8). Harold has been playing solid golf this season and is hitting the ball better than ever. He is yet to win on the PGA Tour but has won a big event down in Australia which suggests he can close it out when given the chance. He was the 36-hole leader the first week back after the resumption but the putter went cold over the weekend. The course should suit Varner here and I’m sure he will give himself plenty of birdie chances. Hopefully the putter can stay warm for 4 rounds for us here.   My next selection is WILL GORDON 90/1 EW (Coral 1/5 1,2,3,4,5,6,7). Will played great golf last week under pressure as he needed a top 3 finish to secure a special exemption on the PGA Tour. He done just that with a stunning final round of 64 with a birdie finish. Performing like that under the pressure he was under shows the talent of Gordon. He has played five events this year with 4 top 25 finishes and now he has secured his PGA Tour card he will be raring to go and challenge for titles. I think he is overpriced here this week and has to be a great e/w bet.   My next selection is LANTO GRFFIN 100/1 EW (Unibet 1/5 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8). Lanto has already won on the PGA Tour winning in Houston late last year. He shown signs of rustiness when the PGA Tour returned with a M/C at the Colonial but he has got better round-by-round, week-by week suggesting a big performance is just around the corner. Griffin is a quality putter which is a key aspect this week. My final selection is RYAN ARMOUR 200/1 (Unibet 1/5 1,2,3,4,5,6). Armour tends to play his good golf in spells and a T6th finish last week hopefully means he is currently having one of them spells. He played the final round last week with Rory McIlroy shooting a 64 which has to give him so much confidence heading into this week. Armour can make putts for fun on a going day and at the big prices he has to worth a go this week to continue the form from last week.
