Brentford vs Wigan

Both teams to score – NO: 4/5 with Bet365.

We’re moving into the crunch stages of the Championship with only 6 games left. Brentford kept up their good form with a brilliant 3-0 away win to Reading midweek, keeping them 3rd and only 3 points behind West Brom in 2nd. They welcome a rejuvenated Wigan side to Griffin Park. At one point it looked like Wigan were dead and buried destined for relegation, they have remarkably turned their season around going on a 9 game unbeaten run winning 6 and drawing 3. Their turn in fortune has been mainly down to their defence, they have managed to keep an impressive 7 straight clean sheets in a row. On the other hand Brentford have kept 4 straight clean sheets in a row, expect a tight affair here and both defences being considerably tough to break down.

Fulham vs Birmingham

Fulham -1 handicap: 15/8 with Bet365.

Scott Parker’s men finally got back to winning ways when they defeated their West London rivals QPR 2-1 midweek. Fulham will know only a win will do if they want to keep their dream of automatic promotion alive, a dream they have seen fade away dramatically in recent weeks. They welcome to Craven Cottage a Birmingham side who are in poor form, Birmingham have failed to win a game in their last 9 fixtures; losing 3 and drawing 6. This is a great opportunity for Fulham to secure back to back wins and put pressure firmly on West Brom and Leeds at the top. Birmingham are coming off a 3-0 home defeat to Huddersfield, expect confidence to be low in their camp and Fulham to take full advantage on home soil where they have won 12 out 20 games.

Derby vs Nottingham Forest

Wayne Rooney to score anytime: 6/4 with Bet365.

Derby have been in terrific form of late, winning their last 5 Championship games putting them right in contention for a playoff spot. They currently sit 7th, 1 point behind Cardiff in 6th who occupy the last playoff spot. They welcome a Nottingham Forest side to Pride Park who have also been in good form winning their last 2 games. Since arriving at Derby, Wayne Rooney has been a revelation for Phillip Cocu’s men, he has lifted the mood and helped position themselves into playoff contention, he has netted in his last 2 games, expect him to make a mark on this must-win game for Derby and prove he’s levels above the rest.

Blackburn vs Leeds

Leeds to win and both teams to score: 3/1 with Bet365.

Leeds would have been massively disappointed with their 1-1 draw to bottom of the table Luton Town at home midweek. No doubt Biesla would have given his players the hair dryer treatment and will expect a response at Ewood park on Saturday. With 6 games to go Leeds are top of the pile but are only 6 points clear from 3rd, Bielsa will know they’re within touching distance of the Premier League and will demand a win from this game. Blackburn have seen their playoff hopes fizzle out a tad with back to back defeats; they know this is a must win game for them but with the quality in Leeds ranks expect Leeds to be too strong. Leeds also have a superb away record this season; out of 20 games played they have won 10, drawn 6 and lost 4. The last 4 meetings between these 2 sides have seen both teams score and over 2.5 goals, with both teams knowing they have to win expect the trend to continue here.

Luton vs Reading

Luton to win: 8/5 with Bet365.

In January it seemed like Luton were destined for League 1 but they have put together 6 positive results consecutively; drawing 4 and winning 2, the latest draw coming against promotion chasers Leeds away from home. That being said they are still bottom of the table 2 points adrift from safety, Luton will know they must keep their positive run going and add some more wins to the board. They face a Reading side who have been stuttering of late, they have suffered back to back defeats leaving them only 7 points clear from safety. Luton’s home record is respectable for a team coming up from league 1, they have played 19 games, won 7 drawn 5 and lost 7, their home form will be vital for the rest of the season. Luton would have gained a lot of confidence from their last game away to Leeds, expect this game to go with the form book and for Luton to keep their momentum going here with a vital 3 points on home soil.
