Everton vs Liverpool Bet Builder Tips – A 6/1 Punt for the Merseyside Derby

It’s the first Merseyside derby of the season as Everton welcome Liverpool to Goodison Park with Frank Lampard staring in the face of the sack already with the Toffees.

In fact, Everton remain one of only three times yet to taste victory in the Premier League, and with only a narrow 1-0 win against League One’s Fleetwood Town in the EFL Cup, the club are in absolute disarray once again.

Liverpool snatched all three points from behind against Newcastle United in a 2-1 win thanks to Fabio Carvalho’s 98th-minute winner. This comes off the back of the 9-0 win over Bournemouth, with the club’s last away trip being at Old Trafford, and that defeat to Manchester United will still be ringing in the heads of Jurgen Klopp’s men.

It should, however, be an easy win for Liverpool based on the form of either side so far.

SALAH 2+ SHOTS ON TARGET 

Despite scoring a stunning 15 goals so far this campaign and losing just once, Mohamed Salah has scored only two goals. Now, against the club he loves playing almost as much as anybody, he will be gunning for the Everton backline. 

From seven Premier League games, Salah has lost just once to Everton and scored four goals with one assist too. The winger also netted twice against them last season at Goodison Park in a 4-1 victory. What’s more, even if he isn’t scoring, Salah is still getting his shots away in the game and remains on penalty duty as well.

 

NUNEZ TO SCORE 

Most of the attention for Liverpool fans will fall on the shoulders of the returning Darwin Nunez. The striker sat out the last of his three-game ban for violent conduct in midweek, as he witnessed Fabio Carvolho’s 98th-minute winner from the stands.

Nunez is no doubt chomping at the bit to get involved once more, as he was not present in the devastating loss to Manchester United, or the two wins that have seen Liverpool score 13 goals during his suspension period.

Roberto Firmino has excelled without him in the side, putting on a clinic in the 9-0 win over Bournemouth and proving his worth once more against Newcastle. Even if Nunez doesn’t start as a result of Firmino’s form, he will come off the bench at some stage, and the last two times he has done that, he scored against Fulham and Manchester City.

 

LIVERPOOL TO WIN 

Considering Everton have won just one of the Merseyside derbies since 2010, there is little hope they will get the job done here. In fact, their 2-0 win at Anfield was even in front of no fans when the likes of Virgil van Dijk were unavailable, and when Everton’s best meets against Liverpool strongest XI, there is usually only one winner.

The Reds should get the job done and make it look quite easy too.

 

GORDON 1 OR MORE SHOTS ON TARGET

If there’s one bright spark from an otherwise dreadful period for Everton right now, it’s Anthony Gordon. Firstly, the Everton youth product is staying with the club until January at least with bids from Chelsea failing. Secondly, he is their only positive on the pitch as well.

The Englishman scored in the 1-1 draw with Brentford last weekend and again against Leeds United in midweek. Both of these efforts were the opening goals of the game, and Gordon will be aiming to make it three in a row this weekend.
