Fulham vs Liverpool Bet Builder Tips, Predictions and 22/1 Betting Tip

Fulham predictions

Fulham vs Liverpool bet builder tip and match predictions for the first lunchtime kick-off of the new Premier League season.

Fulham are back in the Premier League for 2022/22 and they couldn’t have asked for much of a tougher start than playing hosts to last season’s Champions League finalists Liverpool. In fact, it was just last weekend when the Reds sent out a stark reminder to the rest of England that they are not going to slow down at all this season.

On the other hand, compared to their dismal efforts in 2020/21, the Cottagers are coming into the new Premier League season off the back of a record-breaking run in the Championship. Marco Silva managed to guide his men to 27 wins from 49 games in the second tier, and with 106 goals scored and just 43 let in, Fulham are in red hot form.

At the same time, they’ve kept hold of the services of Aleksandar Mitrović, who is coming into this campaign following on from 43 goals in 44 Championship games. The Serbian scored just three times in 27 league games the last time Fulham were in the Premier League, so attention in this one is going to turn to the latest goalscoring phenom to step onto Merseyside, Darwin Nunez.

This game is not going to be a tough one to call and I believe it will be another walk in the park for Liverpool. Their relentless attacking nature alongside the fact that Fulham have quite a few new signings to bleed into their team, all point towards a comfortable three points on the opening weekend for Jurgen Klopp’s men.

SALAH TO SCORE ANYTIME

Although Nunez grabbed the headlines in the Community Shield win over Manchester City, once again, Mohamed Salah scored the decisive goal from the penalty spot.

Now 30 and with no signs of slowing down, Salah has scored 157 goals in 255 games for Liverpool. What’s more, the Egyptian scored in Liverpool’s 3-0 victory over Norwich City in last season’s opener and subsequently became the first player to score in five successive opening-weekend games in the Premier League era.

Fulham also let in 53 goals from 38 games the last time they were in the Premier League, and with the Reds and Salah looking to prove a point once again to Pep Guardiola, I expect Salah to do what he usually does: score.

NUNEZ OVER 1.5 SHOTS ON TARGET

In a season where most attention seems to be falling on the shoulders of Erling Haaland, it was Nunez who stole the show last weekend. Now, with Sadio Mane at Bayern Munich and Diogo Jota out injured, it’s all but a guarantee that Nunez will start this one, especially after what he did against City at the King Power Stadium.

The striker was a threat from the moment he entered the fray last weekend, whether it was running rings around the likes of Ruben Dias, or linking up with the wingers to charge into the box ready to score. Nunez ended up having four shots that game in just over 30 minutes and two of those efforts ended up on target with one of them being a clever finish past Ederson.

Although I’m picking Salah to get his customary opening-weekend goal, with Nunez expected to start, I’m also anticipating him to get some shots on target on Bernd Leno’s goal.

KEVIN MBABU TO BE BOOKED

Although Kevin Mbabu is usually quite disciplined, he is going to be up against Luis Diaz, Salah and Nunez on his Premier League debut for Fulham and it is arguably the toughest introduction to a new league any man could face.

With Liverpool expected to be relentless in their attacking approach and get in behind the Cottagers’ defence, Mbabu could have a tough game here which may result in a yellow card.

LIVERPOOL TO WIN BY TWO GOALS OR MORE

In truth, Liverpool could win by even more than two goals because if they can do so to City just seven days ago, imagine what Klopp’s men could do to a newly-promoted side.

In recent times, the Reds haven’t managed to win by this margin against Fulham, but from the years between 2012-2018, four of their five wins did come with two or more goals being the difference. Last time they met in the Premier League, it was a 1-1 draw and a 1-0 victory for Fulham, but this is a very different Liverpool side this time around.

Salah is going to threaten all game long, Nunez will be eager to continue his incredible goalscoring form, while names like Diaz and Harvey Elliot will all be licking their lips ahead of this game.

Fulham v Liverpool Predictions

  • Kevin Mbabu to be booked
  • Liverpool to win by two or more goals
  • Mohamed Salah to score
  • Darwin Nunez to have over 1.5 shots on target
