Despite two leagues separating these clubs, when they met at the University of Bolton Stadium a fortnight ago the game ended in a 2-2 draw. Now, Stockport of the National League get the chance to finish the job against League One Bolton at home.

All the goals came in the first half of that game with Scott Quigley giving County the lead after 23 minutes. However, two quick fire goals from Eoin Doyle and Elias Kachunga put the Trotters 2-1 up heading into the break. But Stockport wouldn’t be denied, and they drew level just before half time thanks to Ben Whitfield.

No goals followed in the second half, which means we have a fascinating replay to look forward to at what should be a packed Edgeley Park.

Here is what is going for to make up our Bet Builder:

Bolton Wanderers to win

Although Bolton have been out of form, they did register a first win in five games at the weekend, which should give them the confidence to beat a club that sits two leagues below them. It won’t be easy of course, but Stockport have struggled at home for much of this season and have only won twice in the National League in front of their own fans. Bolton have the better squad and they can make their superiority count.

Over 2.5 goals

There were plenty of goals in the first game between these clubs and we think there will be over 2.5 goals again this time. Eight of Stockport’s 14 league games have seen three goals or more, including three of their last five games at home. In Bolton’s 17 league games this season, nine have seen over 2.5 goals so we’re hoping for an entertaining match again.

Both teams to score

Both these clubs would be higher up their respective divisions if they improved their defensive record. Stockport’s last five games in all competitions have seen both teams score, whilst Bolton have scored 24 goals and conceded 26 times in the league so far this season.

Over 10.5 Corners

We expect this to be a frantic game and on a tight Edgeley Park pitch, a lot of corners should happen. There were eleven corners in the first game, and we can see a repeat of that this time.

Over 30 Card Points

New Stockport manager, Dave Challinor, will have his side fired up for this game and in an intense atmosphere, we expect a difficult night for the referee. There were four bookings in the first game, and we expect to see some strong challenges and yellow cards again.

A £20 bet with Paddy Power on this Bet Builder would return £363.19
