What is BTTS in Football Betting?

BTTS tips

Both teams to score, or BTTS for short, is where you need to pick matches in which you think both teams will score. This is a really simple way of betting on football and one of the best ways because who wins does not matter, as long as both teams score.

What is the BTTS meaning?

BTTS is just the shortened down version of both teams to score. Both mean exactly the same thing in football betting terms. This way of betting is mainly used in football and it is a good alternative to the traditional team to win accumulator. Different bookmakers will have different names for their BTTS coupons such as Goals Galore or Goal Rush, but essentially you are always betting on the same thing. If you select ‘Yes’ next to the match in question, it means you expect both teams to score (or BTTS) in that game. If you select ‘no’ it means you do not think both teams will score.

The meaning of BTTS in in betting could not be simpler, as long as both teams score in the matches you have selected, you will have yourself a winning BTTS bet.

What does BTTS mean on football?

When you are looking through football coupons you will see one called BTTS. This is now one of the most popular ways of betting on football and we love it. Each weekend we do our own BTTS tips and you can either follow them or pick your own bets. We always pick four selections on our BTTS bet and the explanation of what BTTS means in football betting is easy. It does not matter what the result of the match is, whether the home team wins, the away team wins or the match is a draw. As long as both teams get a goal or more, the both teams to score bet is a winning one. If any of the footy teams on your bet do not score, then the bet is a loser.

Can you put an accumulator on BTTS?

Yes you can, and this is the most popular way of betting on this particular type of bet. Because the odds are always quite short for BTTS selections, it is always good to pick three or more both teams to score predictions out and put them all in an accumulator together. With a 4-fold BTTS accumulator, it means you need all eight teams to score a goal for the bet to be a winner. That is the risk with accumulators, if one team doesn’t score it messes up the whole bet and it will be a loser.

Both Teams to Score Meaning

The meaning of both teams to score is exactly the same as BTTS. Both teams to score is just the full name. There is no difference with the bet you place.

Both Teams to Score No Explained

When you look at a BTTS (both teams to score) coupon, you will always see two options – ‘yes’ or ‘no’. If you choose yes it means you think that both teams will get on the scoresheet as discussed above. If you choose no, it means you DO NOT think both teams will get on the scoresheet. For this selection to be a winner you need EITHER just one of the teams to score in the match, or neither team to score. For example, if the match you selection both teams to score no finished 0-0, 1-0, 2-0, 3-0, 4-0 etc, then the bet is a winning one. But if both teams do score e.g. 1-1, 2-1, 3-1. 3-2, then the bet is a loser. Personally, I always think it is much harder to pick out BTTS no matches because even when a small team plays a big team, there is always the chance of a counter-attack or a set-piece goal.

What is both teams score tips?

You will see a lot of people offering BTTS tips, or both teams to score tips. These are just people who look at the stats for upcoming matches and try to predict whether both teams will score in that match or not. You can find all our both teams to score tips on the website and each time we do tips, there will also be reasons for why we think both teams will score in that match. There won’t be tips every day because we only want to give well-researched bets after looking at all the BTTS stats that are available.

What does GG mean in betting?

GG has a number of meanings but for the purpose of BTTS, GG refers to the Betfred Goals Galore coupon. Betfred were one of the first bookies to offer BTTS odds and they decided to name their coupon the Goals Galore coupon. They also do a Goals Galore Bonus Coupon which is very good and one we use for our tips quite often. The Goals Galore is simply shortened down to ‘GG’ sometimes.

An example of a Goals Galore bet:

Example of a winning BTTS bet

It’s Saturday afternoon and you are looking through the football coupon. Now you know the answer to the question “what is BTTS in football betting?” after reading our guide, you decide to try your luck with a BTTS bet.

As we advised, you pick your four matches where you think both teams will score a goal or more and these are the four you decide on:

Everton vs Tottenham

Blackburn vs Leeds

Portsmouth vs Sunderland

Tranmere vs Wycombe

The odds for the BTTS accumulator are 9/1 at Betfred.

At 3pm all the matches kick-off and now you need all eight of those teams to score.

At 5.50pm the results come in as follows:

Everton 2 vs 1 Tottenham

Blackburn 1 vs 2 Leeds

Portsmouth 3 vs 2 Sunderland

Tranmere 1 vs 1 Wycombe

As you will see from the results, all eight teams have scored and so your BTTS bet would be a winning one at odds of 9/1.
