Charity Open Golf Tips 2020

My first selection is JUSTIN THOMAS 10/1 WIN. Muirfield is known as a second shot golf course as we all know and this course sets up perfectly for JT. Thomas has a rare missed cut when well fancied last time out and he will be eager to put that right here. Thomas managed a pair of top 10s in the two tournaments he played before that missed cut and I’m happy to put that down to a blip as nothing was going right for him there. JT can make birdies in numbers when on song and he has to be a worthy favourite considering how often he wins golf tournaments at this level. He’s played here five times registering two top 10 finishes and he will be eager to add a win at Jacks place to his ever-growing winning list.

 

Each-way Betting Tips

My second selection is BROOKS KOEPKA 14/1 EW WILLIAM HILL 1/5 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 who was a strong selection 2 weeks ago before he had to withdraw due to Covid worries. The reasons are similar to that week and mainly they were that Brooks seemed to be improving with every round. His iron play has begun to return to what we expect from him and the putter was warming up for him last time out at Harbour Town. He’ll be eager to get his game in top shape as we head towards the first major of the year in August and this course will certainly suit his eye. He led the field at the Heritage in strokes gained off the tee and with the easy course set up here he’ll be able to bomb his driver straight and long setting himself up with many birdie chances. If he can get the putter warm early I think he will be a strong contender this week.

My third selection is CAMERON CHAMP 66/1 EW WILLIAM HILL 1/5 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 who returned after testing positive for Covid-19 last week. He put 4 strong rounds together there seemingly getting better each week. He is possibly the only golfer who can hit it as far as Bryson DeChambeau these days. Champ could well prove this week that hitting the ball along way is where the game is heading as he is sure to set himself up with many birdie chances due to the fact he’ll be hitting plenty of wedges into greens round here. After shooting -5 in the final round last week he’ll be eager to start stronger here and continue his good form. Champ isn’t scared to win and this youngster has already got two wins to his name in his short career.

My final selection is AUSTIN COOK 300/1 EW WILLIAM HILL 1/5 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 or 400/1, 7 places at Betfred. Austin Cook tends to pop up on leaderboards now and again and he has won well on the PGA Tour in the past winning the RSM Classic. Cook is still relatively young and is driven to keep improving.  Cook has been improving a lot over the last few weeks improving his iron play significantly which like I said before is a key feature this week. He hasn’t missed a putt from inside 6ft in the whole of 2020 so hopefully, he can continue to show improvement with his iron play and remain solid with the putter here to give us a run for our money at wild prices.
