Goalkeepers and Defenders Tips
We kick things off with last week’s top scoring single gameweek keeper, Alex McCarthy (4.5m). McCarthy saved a penalty to earn 12 points ahead of kind fixtures against Norwich and Watford. He has four clean sheets in his last 11 league games and could be a useful option if you can get around his Gameweek 31 blank. Matt Doherty (6.2m) has returned 6, 6, 10, 12, 6 from his last five league appearances with four clean sheets, one goal, two assists and three bonus points. The Wolves wingback faces West Ham, Bournemouth and Aston Villa in his next three and currently faces no rescheduled fixtures (subject to Sheffield United’s progress in the FA Cup). Marcos Alonso (6.1m) has started Chelsea last three league games, returning 8, 16 and 6 points respectively. Over the course of the season he has averaged over 8.5 a game. If he can maintain his starting spot, Alonso could be a profitable acquisition for the run in.Midfielders Tips
Last week we mentioned the in-form Bruno Fernandes who went on to grab an assist in Gameweek 29. The man he assisted was Anthony Martial (7.9m) who now has three goals in his last four league games, taking him to 11 for the season. Manchester United have a reasonably kind run-in which could prove fruitful for Martial owners. Having blanked for three consecutive matches, Harvey Barnes (6.1m) offered a timely reminder of his potential with a 19-point haul against Aston Villa on Monday. Barnes has scored five and assisted two in his last seven, with six of those direct goal involvements coming at home. Perhaps worryingly, Leicester are set to play at the King Power just once in the next six gameweeks. Billy Gilmore (4.5m) introduced himself to the Chelsea starting XI with back to back man of the match performances in the FA Cup and Premier League. His place is far from assured but at his low price, could be an interesting bench option, especially given his low ownership of just 0.2%.Forwards Tips
Jordan Ayew (5.1m) has scored in back-to-back games for the second time this season. He’s taken his league tally up to eight and at 5.1m appears to be good value. However, Palace face six of the top eight in their final nine games of the season. It could be a tough ending to the season for the Eagles and their FPL assets. Sheffield United hero, Lee Sharpe (5.6m), has scored in two of his last three league games and bagged an extra-time winner against Reading in the FA Cup. He’s started in the last five league games but at 5.6m might be too costly a gamble.❌ #MCIARS = no KDB in GW29
