Fantasy Football Gameweek 16 Advice, Tips and Recommended Selections

Fantasy Football tips

Many FPL managers will have one eye on a January wildcard as we approach the second half the season. With that in mind, here are our picks to make the most of your budget over the festive fixtures, starting with Gameweek 16.

It was a surprise to see Tammy Abraham back in the Chelsea starting line-up for their win over Aston Villa, and the striker picked up where he left off after getting injured. A 12 point haul rewarded Fantasy Football players who kept him in their squads. Chelsea are at Everton this weekend so there could be more points for the striker.

Goalkeepers and Defenders FPL Tips

Reece James (5.0m) looks to have made the right back spot his own at Chelsea. The young Englishman has put in a series of solid performances since coming into the starting XI. His assist against Aston Villa demonstrates his points potential if Chelsea can stop leaking goals.

Another potentially interesting investment is Patrick van Aanholt (5.6m). Crystal Palace are the only side not to face any of the current top six until the new year. PVA has scored twice this season and could profit handsomely from the kind fixtures.

A fullback that is best avoided is Aaron Cresswell (4.7m). The West Ham left back has scored three goals this season with his most recent coming against Chelsea in Gameweek 14. Nevertheless, West Ham have kept just once clean sheet in nine games and must deal with Aubameyang next.

Midfielders FPL Tips

Dele Alli (8.6m) gets a mention for a third success week with the England midfielder finding some excellent form. Tottenham have scored well since Mourinho took over and Alli’s role as a second striker should continue to reap rewards for his FPL owners.

Everton have been in dire form for much of this season and find themselves in the bottom three. Despite this, Richarlison (7.6m) has managed to notch five goals and three assists. The Brazilian has blanked in just two of his last seven and could be in the point again this weekend.

Don’t be fooled by Leander Dendoncker’s (4.4m) 11-point haul in Gameweek 15. This was the Belgian’s first return of the season as he continues to deputise at centre back. With that said, he is an excellent bench option given his budget price.

Forwards FPL Tips

Marcus Rashford (8.7m) is bang in form right now. The England forward has scored six goals and three assists in his last seven with just one blank in that time. Manchester City are up next for United, but their poor defensive record could benefit Rashford once again.

Harry Kane (10.9m) scored in his first league game under Mourinho but has blanked in each of his last two. Kane has been dropping deep with Alli often the furthest forward. There is better value in the Spurs side.
