Fantasy Football Tips and Advice for Gameweek 28 – Should you Play a Chip?
Blank Gameweek 28 is here with a reduced fixture list. Manchester City, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Sheffield United are all without a fixture with the League Cup final leading to postponements. With that in mind, here are this week’s tips.
Some people will look to play either a free hit or wildcard this weekend, but with double gameweeks still to come and more reduced fixture weekends due to the FA Cup, is it time to stick or twist with your chips?
If you can still field 11 players this weekend then I’d say keep hold of your chips but if you only 7 or 8 players available, a free hit might be the way to plat Gameweek 28.
FPL Goalkeepers and Defenders Tips
Wolves have now kept three consecutive clean sheets for the first time this season. Their rear-guard performances are beginning to attract lots of fantasy interest and no Wolves defensive asset stands out more than Matt Doherty (6.1m). The Irishman bagged an assist in his last fixture to take his tally to seven goal involvements this season. His good run of fixtures only furthers his appeal.
At the other end of the defender’s price spectrum is Burnley’s Charlie Taylor (4.2m). The Clarets fullback has record three clean sheets from his last four appearances and makes for a strong bench option for the upcoming FPL schedule.

FPL Midfielders Tips
Bruno Fernandes (8.2m) has hit the ground running at Manchester United. The Portuguese international scored from the penalty spot last weekend as well as picking up his second assist in three games. There aren’t too many better options in this price bracket right now.
Ross Barkley (5.6m) has been featuring in Lampard’s selections a lot more in recent weeks. Two assists against Tottenham may have turned some heads but approach with caution. Barkley often flatters to deceive and his place in the team is far from assured, particularly with the imminent return of Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka (4.5m) has received plenty of plaudits for his recent performances from left back. The reverse out of position asset has assisted in back to back games and could be an interesting fifth midfielder. Arsenal, however, are without a fixture this week so it’s best to hold tight for now.
FPL Forwards Tips
Matej Vydra (5.3m) isn’t a name we thought would crop up in this list just two weeks ago. The Czech international has rarely featured for Burnley in the Premier League until recently. He scored the winner in his first start of the season and followed that up with another goal last weekend. With 0.2% ownership, he could be one hell of a differential.
Speaking of differentials, Shane Long (4.6m) run of starts has also caught the eye. The Saints forward has started each of Southampton’s last six, scoring twice in that period. At such a low price, he may be worth considering.
Diogo Jota (6.2m) bagged his second Premier League brace of the season last weekend. His two goals followed on from his hat-trick in the Europa League which could suggest more to come. Worryingly, this was only Jota’s fourth return from 23 appearances.
Eddie Nketiah (4.3m) rounds off this week’s list. His second successive start and first goal for Arsenal this season propels him above Gabrielle Martinelli in the budget Gunners forward considerations. Wait and see for now.
