What are this weekend’s Accumulator Tips?

Each Saturday, sports journalist Pete O’Rourke gives us his five predictions for the Premier League and Football League 3pm kick-offs and we add all these to our Saturday accumulator. This weekend, the five selections comes in at odds of 27/1.

See Pete’s selections below with reasons behind each pick.

Bournemouth v Chelsea Betting Tip – Chelsea win

Bournemouth take on Chelsea this weekend with both sides in need of the points for different reasons. Bournemouth are just two points above the relegation zone after winning just two of their last 10 games and relegation is hanging over Eddie Howe’s men. Chelsea need the three points to cement their place in the top four with a host of sides breathing down their necks in a bid to claim a spot in next season’s Champions League. Chelsea were outclassed by Bayern Munich in Europe in midweek and Frank Lampard will be expecting a response from his troops. Chelsea have been better on their travels than at Stamford Bridge this season and the way Bournemouth play could suit Chelsea as they will attack and leave spaces at the back for them to exploit. Both sides have had a problem keeping clean sheets this season so I expect goals to be on the menu, but I think Chelsea’s superior attacking quality will see them prevail to keep their top-four bid on track.

Newcastle v Burnley Betting Tip – Burnley win

In-form Burnley travel to Newcastle this Saturday and the Clarets look great value to continue their superb run of form. Sean Dyche’s men have taken 13 points from the last 15 available to have them dreaming of qualifying for Europe. Burnley have picked up some notable scalps in their recent runs with wins over Leicester and Manchester United so a trip to shot-shy Newcastle should hold no fear. Newcastle have failed to win any of their last three games and they have failed to score in any of those matches. Newcastle have won just one of their last nine Premier League matches and fears are growing they could be dragged into the relegation dogfight. Burnley are rated as the underdogs in this game, but on current form the visitors are in fine fettle and they can pile the misery on Steve Bruce’s side.

Gillingham v AFC Wimbledon Betting Tip – Gillingham win

Gillingham are one of the form teams in the country right now as they are 15 games unbeaten and they should extend that run against lowly AFC Wimbledon. Steve Evans’ side are making a late charge for promotion and are just five points outside the play-off places following their superb run of form. The Gills have been strong at home in this unbeaten run, winning six of their last eight games at the Priestfield, and I can’t see struggling AFC Wimbledon causing them too many problems this weekend. Wimbledon have failed to win any of their last seven games and they are languishing just one place above the bottom three in League One. Wimbledon have the second-worst away record in the league and with Gillingham being at fortress Priestfield I expect them to continue their push for promotion with another three points.

Tranmere v Fleetwood Betting Tip – Fleetwood win

Fleetwood will be aiming to boost their promotion aspirations when they travel to struggling Tranmere Rovers this weekend. The Cod Army have won five of their last six matches and are currently unbeaten in their last nine games to leave them just outside the League One play-off places on goal difference. Tranmere, on the other hand, are embroiled in a relegation battle at the wrong end of the table, five points adrift of safety. Rovers picked up a morale-boosting win in midweek at Shrewsbury to end an 11-game winless run, but they are coming up against an in-form Fleetwood side. Tranmere have won none of their six home matches against teams that currently reside in the top eight and Joey Barton’s men should have too much quality for the relegation strugglers at Prenton Park.

Mansfield v Swindon Town Betting Tip – Swindon win

The League Two promotion race is one of the tightest we have seen in recent years and leaders Swindon will be seeking to cement their spot at the summit when they take on struggling Mansfield this weekend. Swindon have won three of their last four matches and remain two points clear at the top of the table as the promotion chase heats up. Mansfield, on the other hand, have endured a season to forget after being tipped as promotion contenders before a ball was kicked and they are currently fourth from bottom of the table. The Stags have won just once in their last five games and they have only picked up eight victories all season. Mansfield have one of the worst defensive records in the league and free-scoring Swindon will relish the opportunity to get among the goals in this weekend’s encounter. There is more riding on the game for Swindon as they look to win promotion and I expect the Robins to do enough to get another win on the board.
