Premier League Fantasy Football Captain Advice for Gameweek 26

Fantasy Football tips

Even though the Premier League is in its winter break, it doesn’t affect the Fantasy Football gameweek, with the matches simply spred across the two weekends.

The Premier League winter break should provide plenty of rest for the potential captain options ahead of some very favourable fixtures. Here’s our look at the top three.

Option 1 – Kevin De Bruyne (10.7m) vs West Ham

Manchester City’s shining light this season, De Bruyne has often been the man called on to deliver when things aren’t going their way. The Belgian was unable to pull a rabbit out the hat against Tottenham, but his consistency shouldn’t be overlooked.

De Bruyne has delivered attacking returns in 16 of his 23 starts this season and is in great form ahead of Euro 2020 with Belgium. He has scored three and assisted seven in his last eight and is well on target to break the Premier League assists record. KDB has 24 goal involvements this season, level with the amount of games he has featured in.

West Ham were turned over 5-0 on the opening with De Bruyne providing an assist in that game. Despite Manchester City’s inconsistencies, they are more than capable of brushing aside teams and when they do, De Bruyne is usually at the centre of that.

Option 2 – Mo Salah (12.7m) vs Norwich

Sadio Mané remains a doubt for the trip to Norwich at the time of writing. Even if he does return, Mo Salah is the stand-out option for Liverpool right now. The Egyptian has five goals and two assists in his last six and has returned 16-point-hauls in each of his last two.

Liverpool’s opponents are Norwich who remain bottom of the league. Salah scored an assisted the last time these two met, delivering 12 points. With penalty duties under his belt, Salah looks to be a very strong captaincy option this week.

Option 3 – Heung-Min Son (10m) vs Aston Villa

Son has made it back into our thinking after scoring back-to-back goals in the league. Since Mourinho took over, the South Korean has scored four and assisted four in ten league games. Tottenham had been out of sorts of late but have now put together consecutive wins ahead of a trip to Villa Park.

Spurs ran out 3-1 winners in their last game with Aston Villa after going behind. It took late goals from Harry Kane to bail them out with Tottenham not able to call on Son due to suspension. With Kane unavailable this time around, Son will have to shoulder the goal-scoring burden to keep Tottenham’s push for the top four on track.

Owned by less than 10% of FPL managers, Heung-Min Son is certainly this week’s differential captain pick.

Recommended Captain for Gameweek 26

With back-to-back 16-point-hauls, we can’t look any further than the in-form Mo Salah against Norwich. He has thrived on the responsibility in the absence of Sadio Mane and can get amongst the goals again for a third straight gameweek.
