Watford vs Newcastle Predictions
Watford are four points clear of the drop zone at the time of writing and will be looking over their shoulders as Bournemouth and Aston Villa can still catch them. The recent win over Norwich was a massive result and Nigel Pearson will be looking to the home matches to pick up maximum points.
Watford are currently 17th, after a crucial win against Norwich. Newcastle are 13th, one point behind Everton in 11th.
The Magpies have been playing far better football than Watford since the restart. The Hornets cannot afford to relax but will find it tough to take all three points so a bet on Newcastle to win or draw might be a good betting tip here. For a correct score prediction, the 1-1 draw is priced at 13/2 with Betfred.
Watford Cannot Relax Yet
Watford sit just outside the relegation zone. Their 2-1 comeback win iver Norwich helped widen the gap to four points on Aston Villa and Bournemouth at the time of writing.
The Hornets have been poor since the restart, picking up just one point from four games prior to Norwich. The Hornets have been lackluster and off the pace in the majority of games since returning to action.
Nigel Pearson will be disappointed with Watford’s recent defensive record. The relegation-threatened side have conceded eight in their last four, including to Norwich who hadn’t registered in six.
Watford have no new injury news to report on at the time of writing.
Newcastle Having a Good Season
Newcastle had put together a run of six unbeaten in the league before defeat against Manchester City. Their strong form extends back to mid-January with just two losses in the last 11 before their 5-0 loss. Three of Newcastle’s last seven league games have featured shutouts for Steve Bruce’s side.
Only three of Newcastle’s last nine games before the trip to Manchester had seen a goal scored before half-time. A notable number of their Premier League ties have been level at 0-0 at the break (14 out of 34).
The Magpies have fired ten in their last five, a marked increase on their goalscoring feats earlier in the season. They drew 1-1 with Watford in their reverse fixture.
Jamaal Lascelles and Allan Saint-Maximin are injury doubts.
