After getting to the final of Euro 2020 on home soil and missing out on the title in a penalty shoot-out, all eyes now turn to Euro 2024 and England’s anticipated participation.

Since Brexit, there have been many questions as to whether England will be abe to play in European Championships moving forward and the simple answer is yes. England can play in Euro 2024 and subsequent European Championships despite Brexit, as long as they qualify for the tournament.

This is because England are still in Europe, just not the European Union, which is completely different.

Where is Euro 2024 being held?

Euro 2024 is being hosted in Germany and England manager Gareth Southgate will hope he can successfully navigate Euro 2024 qualifying by getting through the group to take part in Euro 2024.

The tournament will be held across Germany in 10 different cities including the capital Berlin, and Munich. The Euro 2024 final will be held at the Olympiadstadion in Berlin where 70,000 fans will cheer on the finalists.

England will hope to be in the final once again after they made it all the way to the final game of Euro 2020 before being beaten on penalties.

How can England play at Euro 2024?

For England to be able to play at Euro 2024, they need to qualify for the tournament which involves the process of a series of group matches and if they top the group, they will qualify for Euro 2024. If they finish second in the group, they will need to go through the Euro 2024 play-offs which will be determined by a draw.

England’s Euro 2024 qualifying group is made up of Italy, Malta, North Macedonia, Ukraine and England so it looks like a two-horse race between England and Italy to top the group.

Euro 2024 qualifying starts on Thursday 23rd March and the first match in the group is a big one, with Italy facing England.

Does Brexit Affect England for Euro 2024?

No. England are still allowed to play at Euro 2024 because they are still a European country. Brexit was to remove themselves from the European Union, not Europe as a continent. Therefore, England still qualify to play in the European Championships as they are still a European nation.
