Euro 2020 Qualifying Play-offs Betting Tips & Predictions

There are still four Euro 2020 places up for grabs and the first set of play-off matches take place on Thursday 8th October as we begin to narrow down the final 16 teams. The likes of Iceland, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and Scotland still have work to do if they are to qualify for next summer’s European Championships and all eight matches are previewed by Fabio below. Bulgaria vs Hungary Betting Tip

Under 2.5 Goals – 8/15 with Bet365 Bulgaria’s form heading into this one is a little alarming. They have suffered 1-0 losses to Wales, Belarus, and Paraguay in their last five, with their only victory a narrow 1-0 win over the Czech Republic. Only one of their last five internationals has seen more than one goal. Hungary are favourites for this one but have also suffered three defeats in their last five, although against a higher quality of opposition. Their recent games have been low-scoring and under 2.5 goals looks like the market of choice for this one.  

Iceland vs Romania Betting Tip

Under 2.5 Goals – 8/15 with Bet365 Iceland’s European finals debut is still fresh in the mind of many (particularly England fans) after their unlikely run at Euro 2016. The Nordic nation keep things tight as much as possible with three 1-0 scorelines in their last four. Romania are slight underdogs for this one but there likely won’t be much to separate these two. As such, a cagey, low-scoring affair looks to be the order of the day. The odds aren’t amazing, but like Bulgaria vs Hungary, this could be good accumulator fodder at 8/15.  

Bosnia-Herzegovina vs Northern Ireland Betting Tip

Time of Last Goal: 76’-Full-time – 13/10 with Bet365 Bosnia-Herzegovina are the clear favourites here at evens to win. They had a disappointing qualifying campaign finishing fourth in Group J behind Italy, Finland and Greece. A 4-2 defeat was a low-point of a campaign which featured five defeats from ten. By contrast, Northern Ireland can be proud of their performance in Group C. They did the job against Belarus and Estonia with home and away victories and managed a creditable 0-0 draw against the Netherlands to finish third behind them and Germany. 11 goals were scored in the final 15 minutes of Northern Ireland’s games. The only match not to feature a lot goal was the aforementioned 0-0.  

Slovakia vs Republic of Ireland Betting Tip

Under 2.5 Goals – 8/15 with Bet365 Between them, Slovakia and the Republic of Ireland suffered just four defeats from 16 qualifiers. ROI’s games were particularly low-scoring with all eight featured under 2.5 goals. They managed just seven goals scored and conceded five in an evenly matched group in which Denmark and Switzerland qualified. Slovakia saw a bit more variation in scorelines in their qualifying group. Heavy defeats to Croatia and comfortable wins against Azerbaijan aside, their games with Wales and Hungary all featured under 3.5 goals. Another close contest is expected here with Ireland’s record, in particular, suggesting a lack of goals.  

Norway vs Serbia Betting Tip

Erling Haaland to Score – 11/10 with Bet365 Breaking away from the under 2.5 goals market, we have a goalscorer tip for this one. Norway scored 19 goals in 10 games against the likes of Spain and Sweden. They scored in each of their ten qualifiers. The majority of those came without Erling Haaland who has since burst onto the European scene. Haaland has three goals in four caps for Norway and five in five for Dortmund this season.  Serbia’s defence was far from resolute in qualifying, conceding 17 in eight and failing to keep a single clean sheet. They shipped seven to Ukraine, three to Luxembourg, and two to Lithuania.  

Scotland vs Israel Betting Tip

Scotland to Win – Evens with Paddy Power Having finished fifth in a group of six behind Poland, Austria, North Macedonia, and Slovenia, Israel can count themselves extremely fortunate to still be in with a shout at qualification. Over half of their 11 points came against bottom of the group, Latvia. Scotland managed five wins and five defeats in a tough group with Belgium and Russia. Their 3-0 defeat to Kazakhstan was extremely poor, as was a 4-0 loss to Russia. However, Scotland have been handed a golden opportunity against an Israel side that they will be expected to beat. They’ll surely take this opportunity.  

Georgia vs Belarus Betting Tip

Under 1.5 Goals – 6/4 with Bet365 Speaking of lucky to still be involved with Euro 2020 free bets, Georgia and Belarus have done very little up until now. Georgia won home and away (just) against Gibraltar and managed 0-0 draws against Switzerland and Ireland to secure four points. Belarus on the other hand, managed a solitary win against Estonia, drawing their other game with them 0-0. On this evidence, this shaping up to be a tight contest between two sides who will be content to still be involved.  

North Macedonia vs Kosovo Betting Tip

Over 2.5 Goals – 27/20 at Bet365 North Macedonia kept things tight in general, picking up 14 points to finish behind Poland and Austria. They conceded 13 goals in 10 and gave a good account of themselves. Their opponents, Kosovo, also performed relatively well. They gave England a scare in a 5-3 defeat and took three points of the Czech Republic on their way to finishing third in Group A. 13 goals scored and 16 conceded is unusually high and if their kamikaze performance at Wembley is anything to go by, we can expect goals here.
