Templegate’s Cheltenham Tips – Tipsters Best Bets for Day 1 of the Cheltenham Festival 2021
The newspaper tipsters are always popular during the Cheltenham Festival and Templegate from The Sun will be no different. Each day you will find his Cheltenham Festival tips for today and the best bookies to use to place the bets.
We have got all of Templegate’s tips as they come in and so far, he has gone head to head with another top racing pundit, Matt Chapman, to give their best three Cheltenham tips at this stage.
There is still a few weeks to go until the start of the Festival but The Sun’s tipster will be predicting every race on every day, and you can see them all right here.
Templegate’s Cheltenham Day 2 Tips
1.20 Gaillard Du Mesnil (nb)
Improving fast and plenty in hand when winning a Grade 1 last time.
Won at last year’s Festival and looks a superstar over fences already.
2.30 Grand Roi
Will improve for this longer trip on handicap debut.
3.05 POLITOLOGUE (NAP)
Last year’s winner can go very close again over ideal trip.
3.40 Some Neck
Won here last time and good price to hit the frame again.
4.15 Chosen Mate (treble)
Won this last year and trained to peak again today.
4.50 Sir Gerhard
Three easy wins so far and can take another big step forward.

POLITOLOGUE (3.05 Cheltenham, nap – best bet)
He didn’t get the credit he deserved for winning this last season. Like today, Altior was missing and plenty of people said Paul Nicholls’ runner didn’t have a lot to beat.
But it was still the Champion Chase and he won it brilliantly by galloping them into the ground. He looks overpriced to go close again.
GAILLARD DU MESNIL (1.20 Cheltenham, nb – next best)
He has looked a potential superstar this season and was highly impressive when winning the Grade 1 Golden Cygnet at Leopardstown last month.
He saw out the slightly longer trip there and that staying power will be a real asset. That smart effort was just his third run over timber and there’s more to come.
CHOSEN MATE (4.15 Cheltenham, treble – chuck in for a big win)
He was impressive when winning this race 12 months ago and returns from just 2lb higher when taking his rider’s claim into account.
His whole campaign has been geared around coming back here with a run on the Flat and over hurdles before a couple of quiet spins over fences.
That should see him spot-on for fitness and we know this trip and track are ideal.
Templegate’s Cheltenham Tips for 2021
At the time of writing, we have got three Templegate tips across the week and as more are added, they will be posted on this page. He has predicted the winner of the Champion Hurdle (Tuesday), the Close Brothers Mares Hurdle (Tuesday) and the Triumph Hurdle (Friday).
Templegate’s Champion Hurdle Tip 2021
Honeysuckle to win – PLACE BET.
“She could not have been more impressive when winning at the Dublin Racing Festival and already has a Cheltenham Festival Grade 1 on her CV.
That Leopardstown success showed her liking for two miles and she has more to offer.”
Templegate’s Mares Hurdle Tip 2021
Concertista to win – PLACE BET.
She won the Dawn Run in style last season and has cruised to victory on both starts this term.
Willie Mullins’ seven-year-old has more improvement to come and we know Cheltenham suits well.
Templegate’s Triumph Hurdle Tip 2021
Zanahiyr to win – PLACE BET.
Gordon Elliott has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to four-year-old hurdlers.
This son of Nathaniel looks the one to give him a third Triumph Hurdle win after his impressive Christmas success at Leopardstown.
He took that hard held and looks a potential superstar.
Bet on Templegate’s Tips
We have teamed up with Paddy Power to give you a nice easy way of betting on the three tips above.
If you click this link, the three Templegate tips will go straight into your betslip and you can choose whether to bet on all three of them to win as an accumulator, bet on them all to win as singles or use a multiple bet such as a Trixie to bet on the doubles and trebles from the three selected horses.
The odds for the three horses all to win are currently 21/1 with Paddy Power which means a £10 bet would return just over £220.
