Bolton vs Sunderland Betting Tips

Bolton picked up their second point of the season in midweek with Keith Hill’s side managing to hold Oxford to a goalless draw. It gives them something to build upon, and many fans are feeling confident that the Trotters can give themselves a realistic chance of escaping relegation.

The hosts have now kept two clean sheets at home, and have moved themselves onto -10 points. With a number of teams struggling at the bottom of League One, Bolton will feel confident of putting themselves firmly in the mix this campaign.

Captain Liam Bridcutt has impressed so far, and the Forest loanee is leading by example. One or two players are slowly getting back up to speed after a period on the sidelines, and it is testament to Hill and Flitcroft that their team is able to compete on a weekly basis.

Many Trotters fans bemoaned their sides lack of firepower, and are suggesting that they are a striker away from winning games. With Daryl Murphy injured, they could do with a focal point up front, and that will surely see them come up short here. Bolton will keep things tight, and they will to thwart the Black Cats throughout the 90 minutes. Sunderland should find a way through, yet they may have to be patient in this game.

Jack Ross’ men could only draw 1-1 in midweek, with a hugely disappointing second half against Rotherham. The Wearsiders have enough quality to find a way through but patience will be key. Backing Sunderland to Win and Under 3.5 Goals in this tie is priced at 13/10 with Paddy Power, and that looks a decent option.

Both Lynden Gooch and Aidan McGeady have netted twice away from home this season, and either of them could find the net here. However, it could be worth sticking with Chris Maguire in this tie. He has a great record against Bolton, netting in each of the last three meetings with the Trotters. He’s had just four shots-on-target this campaign, and has netted with each of them. He’s 13/10 with Betfair and is our second betting tip for Bolton vs Sunderland.
