Cardiff vs Sheffield Wednesday Prediction & Betting Tips: Bluebirds to Continue Their Excellent Home Form

Cardiff City betting tips

The Championship returns on Friday night with a trip to South Wales. Neil Warnock’s men have been poor on the road this season, but they’ve been incredibly efficient at the Cardiff City Stadium and they’ll be aiming to make it three home wins in a row this weekend.

Cardiff vs Sheffield Wednesday Preview – 18/10/2019 Championship

The Bluebirds sit in 11th place coming into this tie and although they’ve only lost three times this season, they haven’t been convincing so far – particularly on the road. Luckily, Neil Warnock’s men have been mightily efficient in front of their own fans and only Preston have a better home record in the Championship.

Cardiff have kept back-to-back clean sheets at this ground with Middlesbrough and QPR both failing to find a way through. Only Fulham have left this ground with a point so far this season.

Sheffield Wednesday are the latest side to arrive at the Cardiff City Stadium and Garry Monk’s men will be hoping to take something back to South Yorkshire. The Owls were defeated in their last away trip when putting in an insipid performance at the KCOM. They simply must improve here.

Wednesday did get back to winning ways two weeks ago when edging past Wigan and although they’ve won two of their last three on the road, they will not come against such a generous defence in this contest.

Will Fernando Forestieri be back in the XI?

Fernando Forestieri has barely featured this season with the 29-year old suffering from injury as well as fulfilling his suspension over the last couple of months. He’s fit again and available for selection this weekend and Garry Monk could opt to bring the Italian back into the line-up. He featured for the Under-23s recently and could add some much needed creativity. Wednesday were lacking in the final third against Hull during their last away trip and Forestieri could add a little X-factor if he’s fully up to speed here. He’s 29/10 with 888Sport to score anytime in this contest.

Can Warnock Continue His Great Record Against His Opposite Number?

Garry Monk has managed a number of different clubs in the Championship and he’s come up against plenty of different managers during that time. He’s faced Neil Warnock on four occasions and he’s never managed to get the better of Yorkshireman. He’s lost three of his four meetings with his opposite number and has picked up a solitary point from a possible twelve. This won’t be much easier for former Swansea boss.

Danny Ward – The Forgotten Man

Danny Ward has come back in from the cold and he’s scored three times in his last two matches. Prior to his recent spell, he hadn’t found the net since September 2018 and he will be looking to make up for lost time here. He is yet to score at home this season, although this could be his chance to impress the Cardiff faithful. He’s 11/5 with Bet365 to notch anytime in this contest.
