Derby vs Wigan – Derby Win
The Rams were desperately poor at the weekend and were easily defeated by Charlton at the Valley. Although reports suggested that the visitors looked uninterested at time, they always tend to fare better at Pride Park. They have won their last two games in front of their own fans (vs Birmingham and Luton) and haven’t been defeated here since the end of August. They are lacking a little bit of creativity in the final third and their biggest challenge on Wednesday night will be unlocking this Wigan back-line. The Latics kept a clean sheet at home on Sunday as they overcame another East Midlands side – Nottingham Forest. They are incredible at the DW and have an excellent record on their own patch although Paul Cook just cannot seem to get a tune out of his men away from home. They’ve lost four of the last five games and have failed to find the net in three of those contests. A home win looks on the cards.Fulham vs Luton – Both Teams to Score? Yes
Fulham were beaten at Stoke at the weekend despite having the majority of the possession and some decent chances along the way. The Cottager’s away form is concerning and they are much more at ease by the Thames. However, they don’t keep many clean sheets and Wigan are the only side to fail to hit the back of the net here since August 21st. Fulham have now conceded four goals in their last two matches and Scott Parker’s side look suceptible at the back. Luton were much improved at the weekend with fans left purring over their sensational display against Bristol City. The Hatters found their rhythm with Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu and Izzy Brown dictating things in the centre of the park. In James Collins, Luton always have a threat and there’s also an aerial presence in the shape of Matty Pearson and the fit-again Martin Cranie. It would be a surprise if the visitors aren’t able to notch in this one.Nottingham Forest vs Hull – Nottingham Forest Win
Our final selection comes from the City Ground where Forest should be able to get back to winning ways at home to Hull. Sabri Lamouchi’s side like to control games and they are often able to do this on the banks of the Trent. They were beaten on Sunday at the DW although their home form is very impressive. They’ve kept four clean sheets in their last five matches (in all competitions) and they have beaten Brentford, Birmingham and Derby here. Hull are a bit hit and miss and dangerously unpredictable although Grant McCann’s side have now lost back-to-back games and conceded three goals in each of those encounters. They were convincingly seen off by Huddersfield last time out and they could struggle here on Wednesday.
