Belgium vs Denmark

Prediction: Belgium to Win

Not the most glamourous odds but this looks like a nailed on bet. Belgium have demonstrated their superiority in the group and have the chance to progress to the Nations League finals. All they need is a draw against Denmark.

That puts the onus on Denmark to push for a winner and leapfrog the current no.1 team in the FIFA World Rankings. Belgium have plenty of threat on the break and will likely punish Denmark should they leave any space in behind to exploit. One way or another, you’d expect Belgium to get the job done.

England vs Iceland

Prediction: England to Win to Nil

England’s Nations League campaign hasn’t been enthralling. A 2-1 win over Belgium aside, the Three Lions have been goal-shy and defensive in their approach. Gareth Southgate is persisting with a ‘solid’ set up that doesn’t concede many and their opponents, Iceland, have scored just three.

Iceland are already down and also have nothing to play for. A more exciting England may emerge given the lack of importance of the game, but a clean sheet and England victory is the likely outcome no matter the line-up.

Israel vs Scotland

Prediction: Scotland to Win

Scotland have the chance to cap off a historic international break with promotion to Division A. The last time these two sides met, the game ended all square with a 1-1 draw. Only a victory will secure promotion regardless of the outcome of the other Group 2 fixture.

Israel have lost twice to the Czech Republic and have a solitary win against bottom-placed Slovakia. None of Scotland’s games have been separated by more than a single goal but if the Scots score first, as they have in two of their last three, they have every chance of hanging on for the victory.

Republic of Ireland vs Bulgaria

Prediction: Under 2.5 Goals

The Republic of Ireland are apparently allergic to goals. In five games, no side has scored more than once, with a total of just five goals. Every one of those games has seen fewer than 2.5 goals. The Republic are just one point ahead of Bulgaria but know a point will see them safe.

The Bulgarians have seen their fair share of goals with seven conceded so far, but given Ireland’s single goal scored, they’re unlikely to ship too many here. A low-scoring tight contest is most likely and under 2.5 goals gives you a degree of safety.

Wales vs Finland

Prediction: Under 2.5 Goals

Speaking of a degree of safety, the other fixture in the group looks likely to pan out in a similar fashion. The top two sides haven’t exactly been involved in goal fests either.

Wales have scored four in four in five and yet to concede. A point against Finland will be enough to gain promotion. Meanwhile, Finland have conceded just twice, one of which was the only goal in a 1-0 defeat to Wales in September.

Few goals are likely to be the order of the day as Wales look to secure the single point they need.
