Salzburg vs Liverpool betting tips for tonight’s Champions League 5.55pm kick-off in Austria. Liverpool are still not assured of qualification but will be through with a draw, or if Napoli do not beat Genk.
The thing to focus on in this match is the amount of goals that both Salzburg and Liverpool have scored and conceded this season. The Austrian Bundesliga side do not sit back in their games and that was shown at Anfield when they came back from 3-0 down to 3-3, before falling just short and losing 4-3 thanks to a second half goal from Mo Salah.
If we get a repeat of that match they this early kick-off could be an absolute thriller and with so much at stake for both teams, it might just be the game of the tournament so far.
If you look at Salzburg’s last home matches you will see they have only lost once at home in a competitive match since November 2016 – that came in this season’s Champions League group stage match against Napoli (3-2). This proves they are a force to be reckoned with but you have to remember that they have very rarely played sides with the quality of Liverpool and Napoli in that time.
However, they have scored 49 goals in 11 home matches so far this season and in that time they have only kept two clean sheets. In their last four home games they’ve conceded eight goals and based on those stats alone, this should turn out to be one of those matches where defending goes out the window. Liverpool will not sit back because they have been poor defensively this season so their best form of defence is also attack. With that in mind, for my Salzburg vs Liverpool betting tips I will be looking to bet on the goals markets at a few different opportunities.
The first bet is going to be for over 3.5 goals to be scored in the match tonight. This would have won in every one of Salzburg’s home matches this season and Liverpool won their last Champions League away game 4-1 in Genk. They also scored three against Bournemouth away from home at the weekend and put five past rivals Everton in the Merseyside derby a week ago.
The odds for over 4.5 goals are best at Betfair where it’s 2/1.
Over 5.5 goals is 9/2.
If you think there will be a lot of goals tonight it might be worth having a small bet on all of these outcomes and splitting your stake across them. The first match ended 4-3 at Anfield so it’s be no surprise to see more of the same tonight.
There are plenty of fantastic attacking players on show tonight but perhaps none more exciting than Salzburg youngster Erling Haaland who has taken the Champions League by storm this season. The 19 year old has scored 16 goals in the Austrian Bundesliga already but he’s also scored eight goals in five Champions League group matches as well. A quite stunning record for a player so young. He’s scored in every game in the Champions League so far and his odds to score tonight are 7/5 with Unibet.
For the Liverpool players, it is Sadio Mane who is the favourite in the anytime goalscorer odds. He was rested against Bournemouth at the weekend so will come into this game fresh and he’s 11/10 with Unibet to score anytime, which looks like a great bet.
Mo Salah scored on Saturday and he’s the same price, 11/10, to get another goal tonight. He got the winner when these sides last met at Anfield earlier in the group stage.
Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino doesn’t score as many goals as Salah and Mane but he is perhaps the most important player in the Liverpool three, and his odds to score tonight are 13/8 with Betway. The Brazilian does the hard-work up front and he’s always a good bet. However, for my Salzburg vs Liverpool betting tips I’m going for young superstar Erling Haaland to score anytime.
I’m predicting a barrage of goals tonight and although Liverpool should be good enough to beat RB Salzburg, they will surely concede goals to this brilliant gung-ho outfit. If Haaland is on sone I expect a couple of goals from the Austrian side but for my RB Salzburg vs Liverpool prediction, I am going to pick out a huge odds correct score tip.
Liverpool were stunned by the Austrian’s comeback in the first match at Anfield and Jurgen Klopp will ensure that doesn’t happen again. Knowing they just need a point is unlikely to stop the Reds going all out for the win and I think it’s something they’ll get. The odds for a 4-2 Liverpool win are 25/1 with William Hill and that’s the next of my RB Salzburg vs Liverpool betting tips.
Salzburg’s odds to beat Liverpool are 16/5 with William Hill.
The odds for the match to be a draw are 7/2 with Bet Victor.
Liverpool’s odds to beat Salzburg are 17/20 and that’s with Betway.
If you think both teams will score in the match you will only get odds of 1/3 and that’s because the bookies think it is very likely to happen.
Over 3.5 Goals – 5/6 with Bet Victor.
Haaland to score anytime – 7/5 with Unibet.
Liverpool to win 4-2 – 25/1 with William Hill.
You can bet £5 on either of these price boosts to add to our Salzburg vs Liverpool betting tips on tonight’s Champions League fixture.
