Southampton vs Everton Predicted Line-ups

Just eight points from 11 games is relegation form for The Saints. Southampton have struggled for goals, managing just 10 so far. Only Newcastle and Watford have scored fewer this season. 27 goals conceded is the worst record in the division. Manager Ralph Hasenhüttl is the favourite to be the next Premier League manager to leave but his opposite number is not far behind in the betting.

Everton have been incredibly poor in front of goal this season. 11 goals in 11 games is well below expectation and needs to improve quickly. The Toffees have conceded 17 goals, level with Chelsea but have kept just one clean sheet since the second week of the season. Cenk Tosun got a late equaliser against Tottenham last weekend and will be pushing for a start, but big money summer signing Moise Kean continues to be left in the could by manager Marco Silva.

Southampton Predicted Line-up vs Everton

Southampton predicted line-up

Manager Ralph Hasenhüttl will need to decide whether to play two up front or just the one for this match. He has swapped and changed this season and seems to favour a more defensive shape for away matches. The Saints fans will expect something from this game so the returning Ryan Bertrand and Valery could be deployed as the wing-backs, with James Ward-Prowse and the under performing Nathan Redmond supporting striker Danny Ings.

Everton Predicted Line-up vs Southampton

Everton predicted line-up

Everton manager Marco Silva is a man under pressure and a lot of Everton fans want to see the back of the Portuguese boss. He refuses to sway away from his 4-2-3-1 formation and that’s what we’ll see again at St Mary’s this weekend. Seamus Coleman could go back into the team at right-back along with Michael Keane, who is likely to replace Mason Holgate.

In midfield, Everton now have to do without Andre Gomes for probably the remainder of the season, so Tom Davies needs to step up to the challenge and make the position his own. Gylfi Sigurdsson has been out of favour in recent weeks but could come in to replace Gomes and there are a number of options up front.

Richarlison could move back to the right wing to allow either Dominic Calvert-Lewin or Cenk Tosun to start and Alex Iwobi is likely to continue on the left-wing if Bernard is still out injured.

Ings to Trouble Toffees

Danny Ings is usually a reliable source of goals when fit. He is Southampton’s top scorer with four goals from eight starts, three of which came in his last five appearances. Everton have struggled defensively for much of the season and should allow chances for Ings. His appeal is further boosted by penalty duties. Ings to score is priced at 15/8.

Both Teams to Score

Given Southampton’s poor defence, Everton will fancy their chances of getting on the scoresheet. Their 9-0 humbling was followed up by a 2-1 loss to Manchester City in a much-improved performance, but a change of keeper may lead to some disruption. Alex McCarthy has been in and out of the team during his time with the Saints but looks to have climbed above Angus Gunn in the pecking order. Everton’s current first choice forward, Richarlison, has scored in just one game this season but has been increasingly involved, grabbing two assists in his last three games. Both teams to score is priced at 4/6.

Southampton vs Everton Score Prediction – Southampton to win 2-1

Everton have been unfortunate with injuries this season and that could really hurt them. A long-term injury suffered by André Gomes against Tottenham adds to the notable absentees including Bernard and new signing Jean-Philippe Gbamin. The Saints looked an improved side against Manchester City having taken the lead las time out. This will likely be a close game, but Southampton may just edge it at home. A 2-1 home win is priced at 11/1.
