Tranmere vs Manchester United Predictions

Manchester United have lost three of their last four league games, each by a scoreline of 2-0.

Six of Manchester United’s last seven have involved goals from just one team.

Tranmere are 21st in League 1 and have won just once against the current top seven.

Tranmere have won just once in their last ten league games.

Manchester United to Win the First Half

United’s form is concerning but their opponents are struggling in the third tier of English football. Tranmere’s record against the top sides in League 1 is particularly poor. They have won just twice against any of the top 18. Needless to say, Manchester United are some way above that calibre.

Even with the likely squad rotation, Manchester United have more than enough to defeat struggling Tranmere. Mason Greenwood is likely to get the nod and will be keen to stake a claim for a starting place in the league.

Both Teams to Score – No

Tranmere will struggle to pose Manchester United problems, despite the home advantage. They have failed to score on eight occasions in League 1 this season. Four of those were against top seven sides in the league.

Manchester United have been involved in 10 league games where both teams didn’t score. They have kept clean sheets against Chelsea, Leicester, Burnley and most recently, Norwich.

Manchester United to Win 3-0

Despite a poor season, Solskjaer’s side have hit three or more goals in six league matches this season. Their record in the Europa League group stage showed they can keep it tight at the back.

Manchester United need a response after back to back losses, particularly the poor showing in the 2-0 home defeat to Burnley. They cannot afford an embarrassment against lower league opposition. A comfortable win will do little to alleviate the pressure on Solskjaer but at the very least it won’t exacerbate matters.

There are plenty of United players with a point to prove and they will take their opportunity against one of the poorer sides in League 1. This is an opportunity to restore some confidence – expect Manchester United to grab it with both hands.
