Despite being the away side, Wycombe are chalked up as the favourites for this tie. The Chairboys have been excellent this season and Gareth Ainsworth has worked wonders with his squad. The Buckinghamshire side can be backed at 5/4 with 888Sport to make it back-to-back wins on the road. Tranmere hammered MK Dons last time out although their home form has been a mixed bag. They can be supported at 21/10 whilst the draw (our pick) is priced at 13/5 with Unibet.  Anybody hoping for a Sunday afternoon goal-fest can back Over 2.5 Goals at around 5/6 with various bookmakers.

Sky Sports are broadcasting an intriguing contest on Sunday lunchtime as Tranmere host Wycombe at Prenton Park. Mickey Mellon’s men will have fond memories of the last International Break where they nabbed an undeserved winner at St.Andrews to beat Coventry 1-0 in front of the TV cameras. Since then, they’ve drawn at home to Southend, been hammered by Sunderland and put MK Dons to the sword a fortnight ago. The former of Rushian Hepburn Murphy is hugely encouraging and the home fans will be hoping to see the Villa loanee unleashed for this one. It hasn’t quite worked with Stefan Payne as the lone frontman, but Hepburn-Murphy’s all-action display at Stadium MK suggests that he is the ideal man to fill this position. Wycombe have been excellent this season and they find themselves joint-top coming into this game. They’ve suffered just a single defeat this season, which surprisingly arrived at the Priestfield Stadium. They are incredibly tough to beat on their travels and have drawn four of their seven matches away from Adams Park. Ainsworth has praised the depth of his squad for the first time since he took the job and admits that there are some hugely talented players who are only able to warm the bench at the moment. There is a feel-good factor around the club and I’m not expecting them to head back south with nothing to show for their efforts. Wycombe are incredibly tough to break down and have conceded just 14 goals so far. Only Rotherham and Ipswich have shipped fewer. Tranmere will have to be at their best in order to breach their trusty back-line.

As good as Tranmere were against MK Dons, they were helped by some questionable defending. It was a stunning solo display from Hepburn Murphy and I expect to ask questions of the Wycombe defence on Sunday. However, it’s difficult to see the visitors succumbing to their second defeat of the campaign and they should be able to take a point from this. With four draws from seven on their travels, it is worth backing this game to end all-square once again. The 1-1 draw could also be worth a second glance. It’s the shortest price in the correct score market and is priced at 6/1 with Bet Victor.
