Arsenal v Leeds United

Arsenal welcome Leeds United to the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night as both clubs aim to reach the last eight.

The Gunners’ form has improved considerably in the Premier League, and they were 3-1 winners over Aston Villa at the weekend. That win extended Mikel Arteta’s sides unbeaten run in all competitions to seven games in which they have achieved five wins and two draws. Arsenal have already scored nine goals in their two Carabao Cup games, firstly beating West Brom 6-0 at the Hawthorns, before a 3-0 home success against AFC Wimbledon.

Leeds United arrive in London struggling for form, having won just once in the Premier League so far this season. That win came three weeks ago against Watford, which means they sit just one place above the relegation zone. Leeds beat League One, Crewe Alexandra, 3-0 in their opening Carabao Cup game, before going through on penalties at Fulham in the last round after a 0-0 draw.

Both managers could make several changes to their starting line-ups from the weekend, but Arsenal will go into the game more confident and should prove too strong for their opponents.

Score Prediction: Arsenal 2-0 Leeds United (7/1 with Paddy Power)

Betting Tip: Arsenal win to nil (7/4 with Paddy Power)

Chelsea v Southampton

Chelsea continue to sit at the top of the Premier League following three wins in a row, which included a 7-0 demolition job of Norwich City at the weekend. That game saw Mason Mount score a hat-trick, but a much-changed side is anticipated for this one. Chelsea met Southampton three weeks ago at Stamford Bridge in the league, and beat the Saints 3-1 with goals from Trevoh Chalobah, Timo Werner, and Ben Chilwell. However, they were made to work for their win and the game really changed when James Ward-Prowse was sent off with 15 minutes to go and the scores level at 1-1.

Southampton will be on a revenge mission this Tuesday and could spring a surprise on the Blues. The Saints are unbeaten in their last two games in the Premier League but are struggling for goals, having scored just eight in their opening nine league games. However, they did put eight past League Two, Newport County, in their opening Carabao Cup game, before beating Sheffield United on penalties at Bramhall Lane, following an exciting 2-2 draw.

This could be a closer game than many might think, but we’re backing Chelsea to have just enough to progress to the last eight of the competition.

Score Prediction: Chelsea 2-1 Southampton (13/2 with Paddy Power)

Betting Tip: Over 2.5 goals (4/5 with Paddy Power)

QPR v Sunderland

Two in form sides meet at Loftus Road, as QPR from the Championship face Sunderland of League One. Despite no longer being in the top-flight, both of these clubs have enjoyed success in this cup over the years. QPR won it in 1967 and were runners-up in 1986, whilst Sunderland have reached two finals, in 1985 and 2014, but lost on both occasions.

QPR sit just outside the Championship play-offs after a surprise 2-1 defeat at Peterborough at the weekend but do have an excellent home record and have won their last four games at Loftus Road. In the Carabao Cup, Rangers edged past Leyton Orient on penalties in their first game, before beating Oxford United at home in their next fixture. They then produced a brilliant performance to draw 2-2 with Everton in the previous round, before beating the Premier League side on penalties.

Sunderland sit fourth in League One, but slipped to a 1-0 defeat at home to Charlton Athletic on Saturday. The Black Cats have beaten Port Vale, Blackpool, and Wigan to get to this stage of the Carabao Cup, all away from home too. They will arrive in confident mood and will be roared on by a passionate travelling crowd.

We expect goals in this one but with home advantage, QPR might be too strong for their League One visitors.

Score Prediction: QPR 3-2 Sunderland (14/1 with Paddy Power)

Betting Tip: Over 3.5 goals (8/5 with Paddy Power)
