Championship Betting Tips

  • Bournemouth vs Reading
  • Luton vs Blackburn
  • Wycombe vs Brentford
  • Middlesbrough vs Norwich
  • Swansea vs Rotherham

Bournemouth v Reading

Prediction: Bournemouth to score over 1.5 goals

Just before the international break Bournemouth secured a fantastic 3-1 away win at Birmingham and they now welcome troubled Reading to the Vitality on Saturday. Veljko Paunović would have certainly been thankful for the international break as his Reading side suffered 3 straight defeats conceding 9 goals in the process. With many players away on international break it remains to be seen how much defensive work Veljko Paunović could have carried out in the last two weeks nevertheless they will be in for a tough time at Bournemouth on Saturday. Expect Bournemouth at home to ramp on the pressure on league leaders Reading and knock in a couple goals.

Luton v Blackburn

Prediction: Blackburn to Win and BTTS

Luton will be highly satisfied with their start of the season, they currently sit in 10th place and are undefeated in their last 2 games. Blackburn have been hugely inconsistent this season which is reflective in their 12th place standing in the table, one thing that has been consistent is their form in front of goal. Tony Mowbray’s side have scored the most goals in the Championship (21) and with the likes of Adam Armstrong available for selection expect the Luton defence to be in for a difficult afternoon.

Blackburn beat QPR 3-1 last weekend.

Wycombe v Brentford

Prediction: Ivan Toney to score first

Wycombe’s excellent mini revival of a 3 game unbeaten run came to an end when they were defeated 2-0 by Nottingham forest, the season gets no easier for Gareth Ainsworth’s side they now welcome Brentford to Adams Park on Saturday. Brentford are in good form with only 1 defeat in their last 7 games and will once again look to their record signing Ivan Toney to fire them to victory. Expect The frontman who has scored 10 goals in 11 games and to continue his rich vein of form against 22nd place Wycombe.

Middlesbrough v Norwich

Prediction: Draw

Ever since the arrival of Neil Warnock as head coach of Middlesbrough, the North East club have been extremely tough to beat and his side are unbeaten in 10 straight Championship outings; winning 4 and drawing 6. Daniel Farkes’ men have also been tough to beat in recent weeks, they’re unbeaten in 7 straight Championship games; winning 5 and drawing 2. It’s clear to see this is going to be a tight encounter when these two square off at the Riverside, both sides have been extremely resilient and expect them not to be separated after 90 minutes.

Swansea v Rotherham

Prediction: Swansea to Win and Under 2.5 goals

Swansea’s 5 match winning streak came to an end when they were defeated 1-0 by Norwich just before the international break, nevertheless it’s still been a solid start made by the Swans. They also currently have the best defensive record in the Championship so far only conceding a total of 7 goals. Newly promoted Rotherham have struggled off late but they put their troubles behind them just before the international break with a 2-1 home win over Preston. Expect 6th place Swansea to assert their authority from the off against 19th place Rotherham and with their defence looking rock solid expect them to edge out a narrow win at the Liberty stadium.
