Wolves vs Reading Prediction & Preview: Two Strugglers Meet at Molineux

Wolves predictions

Wolves vs Reading prediction for the Carabao Cup fixture taking place tonight at Molineux. Both these sides have had a poor start to their league seasons and the League Cup might provide a way to get some winning form back in the book.

Wolves find themselves down in 19th place in the Premier League table with just four points on the board. Reading are in a similar position in the Championship, having picked up just seven points from their opening eight matches and sat down in 20th in the league table. Who will get through to the last 16 tonight?

Wolves vs Reading Preview: 25/09/19 Carabao Cup

Understandably, Wolves are favourites to win this match tonight but as Tottenham found out last night in their defeat to Colchester, nothing is certain in cup competitions and if Nuno Espirito Santo rests some of his star names, Reading will fancy their chances of an upset here. After a fantastic campaign last season, Wolves are now in the Europa League and some have blamed that for their poor start to the season, however, no wins in their opening six matches has left some people questioning the manager already.

Reading are also on a bad run and have now lost their last three matches in the Championship, scoring just once. They ran out 4-2 winners away to Plymouth in the last round of the Capital One Cup but this will be a very different test against far superior opposition. It remains to be see what starting 11 both managers choose here, but Wolves will be expected to ease through to the next round, just like the likes of Everton, Leicester, Manchester City and Southampton did last night against lower league opposition.

Will Wolves beat Reading in tonight’s Carabao Cup?

Despite their poor form, it is hard to predict anything but a Wolves victory in this match given the poor form that Reading are in. The Royals have only scored once in their last three matches and manager Jose Gomes will probably make changes to his starting 11 to focus on the league campaign. That will give Wolves even more hope of a comfortable victory tonight and I’m expecting the home side to win this match without conceding a goal.

The home side will want to get a win to get their fans back on-side as they have a home match against Watford coming up in the Premier League this weekend in the hope of building up some momentum as they look to kick-start their season.

Wolves vs Reading Prediction

The first betting tip for tonight’s match is Wolves to win to nil for the reasons outlined above. This match should be comfortable for the hosts even if changes are made to the starting 11, giving the likes of Raul Jiminez and Joao Moutinho a rest. Diego Jota scored the last gasp equaliser against Crystal Palace in their last league game and he could be given the main striking role tonight in the absence of Jiminez and Patrick Cutrone is also a likely starter.

The odds for Wolves to win to nil against Reading are 19/10 with Betfred where you get a £30 free bet for signing up today.

Wolves vs Reading Score Prediction – Wolves to win 2-0

The odds for Wolves to beat Reading 2-0 tonight are 8/1 with Betfred and if you use their new account offer you could win £90 from a £10 bet, and win or lose a £30 free bet will be added to your account in-time for this weekend’s Premier League betting.

This 2-0 prediction backs up out Wolves to win to nil tip as I expect the home side to easy into the last 16 of the Carabao Cup.
