Step 1 – Stick to Home Teams
This shouldn’t mean you discount away teams or the draw all the time, but if you’re new to accumulator betting then the simplest way to do the bet is by sticking to home teams who are favourites to win. Home advantage is always a big factor when picking a football accumulator tip here at Thatsagoal. Looking at some key data and statistics will always help, but the most basic form of doing this is to look at the home form and away form of the teams playing. The home teams are generally favourites in even looking matches, but you should always check the form of both the teams, if a home team has lost their last five matches, you probably don’t want to add them to your accumulator bet.Step 2 – Check the Form of Both Teams
Every so often, the bookies do seem to price up matches wrong – especially in the lower leagues of English football. You will sometimes see a team who is unbeaten in five or six matches at odds above Evens. This is normally great value (unless the opposition is in similarly good form). Checking the form works both ways – you should also look for teams who are in bad form and to get an extra edge, check the home and away form as this is often very different and you might get an edge over the bookmakers. As well as looking at the form as a whole, we’d also recommend looking at the form separated into home and away. For example, a team might be dominant in home matches and have won their last six, but lost six on the road. This only gives them a 50% win rate overall, but a 100% home win rate. Our advice here would be to add them to your accumulator if they are at home.Step 3 – Look at Stats, Injuries and Suspensions
If a team’s star striker is out injured, then you should probably leave that team out of your football accumulator, for example, do you really want to bet on Manchester City if Sergio Aguero is out injured? It may even pay to bet on the opposition in this case, especially if they are a bit of a ‘one-man team’. Head to head stats are a good guide when trying to win a football accumulator because certain stronger teams do not fare well against certain sides e.g. Liverpool and Chelsea both struggle against Crystal Palace. Suspensions are also a key factor when trying to win football accumulators because a star man missing could alter a teams fortunes quite easily.Step 4 – Avoid Teams Going to Tough Grounds
This is one of our big tips when telling you how to win a football accumulator. The odds for the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal are generally very short when they are away from home. Sometimes this is fine, but at the likes of Burnley, Crystal Palace and West Ham, it’s probably a bet to avoid. These ‘mid-table’ teams are very good at restricting the stronger opposition to fewer chances and so they struggle to win. The odds for these teams also mean they are a big risk to your accumulator bet because the value isn’t usually there. As a rule of thumb, we tend to avoid any away team whose odds are less than Evens. You will find data such as a teams history at certain grounds and you should use this to your advantage.Step 5 – Use the right Bookies to bet on your Accumulator
Unfortunately, there is no bookies who are the best odds for every football accumulator you’re going to bet on. There are some offers that can help you and one that we love is the Bet Victor accumulator coupon. If you find the odds for your accumulator better elsewhere, we would always advise betting at the very best odds available, this involves having a few betting accounts open and you can see the best free bets to claim too.
