Swindon vs Walsall Tip – Swindon Win

Swindon were mightily impressive last weekend as Richie Wellens’ men became the first side to prevent Crawley from finding the back of the net. Eoin Doyle continues to impress on loan from Bradford and the Irishman is likely to get plenty of chances against a Walsall side who are struggling for confidence at the back. After a rocky patch, the Robins have now kept back-to-back clean sheets and collected six points from their last two encounters. They will surely fancy their chances of collecting another maximum here. Darrell Clarke is under mounting pressure from some sections of the Saddlers support after the former Bristol Rovers boss has overseen five defeats on the spin. The midlanders are heading for the bottom two and it needs urgently turning around. Injuries haven’t helped matters although there can be very few excuses for some of their lacklustre performances in recent weeks. They’ve scored three goals in five matches and conceded twelve during that run of games. They could struggle against one of the divisions most in-form strike partnerships (Doyle and Yates).

Scunthorpe vs Stevenage Tip – Scunthorpe Win

Scunny struggled to find their feet at the beginning of the campaign, although there are signs that they slowly beginning to turn the corner. Their home form has been particularly impressive in recent weeks with the Iron winning successive games in front of their own fans. They ran riot against Northampton and put three past Exeter ten days ago. They could only draw against an inconsistent Salford side at the weekend although they arguably should have had more from the game. Yann Song’o’s performances have improved massively in recent weeks whilst the return of Ryan Colclough has played a major part in their output. Alex Gilliead came off the bench to chip in recently and they have plenty of options all over the field. Stevenage have shown gradual improvement under Mark Sampson, and their nervy 1-0 victory over Morecambe helped put space between themselves and bottom spot at the weekend. They’ve taken just one point from a possible nine on the road and will probably collect the majority of their points at the Lamex this season.

Crewe vs Port Vale Tip – Both Teams to Score? Yes

Anything can happen in this derby match and even though Crewe are tempting at Evens, it might be best to simply back a few goals. Crewe were thwarted by Colchester in their last home matches, but they should be able to find a way past this Vale defence. The Railwaymen are the division’s joint-highest scorers with 26 goals so far and last week’s blank looks like it could just be a blip. They have only kept two clean sheets this season at Gresty Road and that will be a concern for Dave Artell. Vale are much weaker away from home although they’ve only lost one of their last three outside of Burslem. They netted twice against Bradford, scored three times at Brisbane Road and twice at Blundell Park. Only Exeter and Newport have kept them off the scoresheet so far and they should be able to trouble Crewe’s back-line in this one.
