2025/26 League Two Outright Predictions

The League Two  season starts this weekend, and we’ve taken a dive into the like to predict some of the outcomes around league winners, promoted side, relegated side and top scorers.

Who will win League Two this season?

I’m backing Chesterfield to have a strong season and be promoted as champions this time around. They finished seventh last season, two points behind Notts County in sixth, and 10 off automatic promotion. They have strengthened considerably this season, adding talented players like Dilan Markanday and Ryan Stirk, and they look stronger for these additions to an already good squad. Manager Paul Cook is seeking his fifth promotion as a manager, and after last season’s poor start, he will have the experience to avoid that happening this time around. I think they’ll start well, and remain consistent throughout. They’re good odds to win the title at 7/1 with Bet365. BET ON CHESTERFIELD

League Two Promotion Predictions

The top three teams are promoted from League Two, and I’m backing MK Dons at 10/11, and Bristol Rovers at 7/2 to finish in the top three. MK Dons have made some impressive signings this summer, and are favourites to win the league with Bet365 at 3/1. The signing of Callum Paterson from Sheffield Wednesday is particularly good, and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, Will Collar, and Aaron Collins are all good signings. Bristol Rovers have club legend Darrell Clarke at the helm, who achieved back-to-back promotions during his first spell at the club. They were relegated last season, but with him in the dugout they have a strong base, and will be confident of bouncing back. I expect them to add more to their squad, and think they have a great chance of promotion via an automatic spot. Both clubs are good odds to finish in the top three and achieve automatic promotion to League One. BET ON MK DONS BET ON BRISTOL ROVERS

League Two Top Goalscorer Prediction

There are plenty of candidates for top scorer in League Two this season. I’m backing Aarron Collins to finish top of the goalscoring charts. The MK Dons man will be an integral part of a team who have hopes of going for the title, if not automatic promotion, and they’ll create a lot of chances. He’s dropping down from League One to take his place in the Dons front line, and with 19 goals in all competitions last season, the drop down should spell goals against what should be, on paper, weaker opposition. He’s good odds to finish top of the goal scoring charts, as 5/1 favourite with Bet 365. Others worth a mention are the Swindon pair Harry Smith and Jake Tabor, both at 25/1 with Bet365. Smith bagged 17 goals in all competitions last season, and 21-year-old Tabor has also shown he can reach that standard. Both are for the watching this season. As I tipped Chesterfield to win the league, I should also mention Will Grigg, who comes in at 14/1 with Bet365. He managed 14 goals in all competitions as he made 37 appearances last season. League Two Relegation Predictions

It’s hard to argue with the bookies favourites for relegation this season. I have to agree with their choice of Newport County to be relegated at 9/4 with Bet365. With an inexperienced manager leading their charge, and the worst defence in the league last season, conceding a massive 76 league goals in their 46 games played, it’s hard to see where they will pick up many points. They have finished 22nd for three seasons in a row, and I think this will be the season they drop into the National League. Accrington Stanley are another relegation candidate after their 21st place finish last season. They won only 12 of their 46 league matches last season, and with one of the lowest budgets in the league, they will be down there as well. They’re priced at 4/1 for the drop. Finally, a good outside bet for relegation would be Crewe Alexandra. Priced at 15/2 to go down with Bet365, they’re worth a punt. They didn’t win any of their last six league matches last season, with five defeats and one draw. They’ve had some key outgoings this summer, and I think they’re a good bet to go down at those odds.
